12 consecutive payments

When I opened an account with T-mobile I was told after 12 consecutive payments I could upgrade without any down payment. After 2.5 years I am now ready to add a line and purchase a second phone. Last month I asked for a payment arrangement, and was told this would not effect the 12 month consecutive payments offer. Now that I am finally ready to upgrade I am being told that the 12 months will need to start over. T-mobile has lied to me and has not helped me in anyway.
