As I have been out of the States for the past few months, But I am not using the phone/phone number I have right now.
is there any way we can remain the same phone number while not being charged for bills since we are not using it? Or we have to either pay monthly charges or forgo the number?

You can do a seasonal suspension but there’s a charge or you can port the phone numbers to google voice for a one time charge.

As my line status now show suspended, is it automatically suspend but still remaining same number even not being charged?

@Wjchai , definitely check out the link above regarding account suspensions.

The charge may be different depending on how many lines total you have on the account, if you have any device payments or insurance, extra paid features, and what type of plan you currently have.

When you say your line status is now suspended- did you request a suspension or was it suspended for late payment?

It was suspended for late payment I think.

Should I just go to profile setting and suspend my line by myself?

Is your line a prepaid line or postpaid?  If it’s prepaid, eventually a $0 balance will be cancelled after so long of in-activity and payment.  Postpaid, if suspended for late payment, still needs to be paid and then asked for a seasonal suspension.  Otherwise, it might end up going to collections and being terminated.
