How is that this has been a problem for 2 years and not fixed? I just switched to T-Mobile and am starting to think that I may have made a huge mistake. I cannot get my military verification to upload. It just keeps giving an error and says try again. I have tried reducing file size, changing file format, changing web browser and still get the error. I see in the related topics that this has been a problem for over two years. What the heck, two years! You only have so long to verify before getting taken off the Military Magenta Plan and they charge you more. Has anyone actually been able to get their military status verified successfully?
I submitted, so far, two different documents and both have been rejected. And it has taken at least a day each time to get them to upload. The first document was my USAF issued retired ID card, and SheerID said that it wasn’t sufficient to establish my military affiliation. The second was my VA issued ID card which, again, was deemed by the geniuses to not be sufficient to establish that I am a veteran. I’ve been trying to upload a picture of my DD214 now for 8 hours and it keeps failing. I can’t wait for them to tell me that one is insufficient. I’ve tried 4 different devices, three different file types, two different Wi Fi networks and even T-Mobile’s own 5G network and nothing works. They make such a big deal out of the military discount but apparently no one at T-Mobile can manually enter the documents for the customer. I’m considering copying all of these posts regarding their longstanding issues with their military program and blasting them to the VFW, DAV, American Legion, AMVETS and any other VSO I can think of so they can warn other vets about the shady practices going on. It’s obvious that T-Mobile doesn’t care or this wouldn’t be an issue two years on.
To follow up. I went to a different store today and spoke to an agent that actually cared about this issue. She got all the way up to a supervisor customer service agent instead of quitting when the first one said they couldn't do anything and they fixed the issue. I gotta give credit to that store. They had three different people in the store and two or three on the phone trying to fix it. I think they also figured out that a high enough customer service manager can validate your status without counting on SheerID. Even though they got me sorted out, I did tell them this has been a problem for at least two years and that was pretty sad.
I have the same problem. I am doing all the troubleshooting to no avail. Glad you were able to get resolution to the problem.
You probably aren’t going to be able to resolve this yourself. I tried that for a week and almost blew a gasket. I suggest that you go to a local store and do not let them give up when the first customer service rep tells them there is nothing they can do. Apparently the document submission link has been broken for a long time and the first couple levels of reps you talk to don’t know how to do anything that isn’t written down in their troubleshooting checklist. Keep after them to elevate the issue and you will finally get someone who is able to fix the problem. It took me about an hour and a half in the store but the customer service agent on the phone asked me about my military service and a few minutes later they told me that I was validated. I don’t know how many levels they had to go up, but they finally got someone who could get it done.
I feel your frustration with this but if you get a decent rep at the store who actually knows what customer service means you’ll get it fixed. It just takes a little time and patience.
My Resolution:
Thank you for your reply, after several attempts to upload various sizes I was able to successfully complete the uploading of my ID. I originally tried with .jpg files a little over 1Mb with no success. I tried a .png that was 336KB. The smaller file went through and I received a text the next day stating my military status was confirmed and would be applied with 24-48 hours. I’m happier now than when I started. I have great coverage and a store manager in the area that is helpful.
I’m happy that you were able to get this resolved. I tried uploading different file sizes and even different file types and none of it worked. Glad that you didn’t have to spend an hour and a half with customer service.
Yoo guys I found a way!
Go to https://tinypng.com/
Just compress the image you want to upload, (mines went from 2.9MB to 610KB).
When I went to upload, it got accepted!
The solution is to scan any document and get it below 1mb. Got my file to 466kb and it accepted my document no problems. Now I just wait for my email. Thanks Bugeyebrown.
My problem is they pre filled my first name as “NA” and my last name as both my first and last name, so Sheer ID says
- The first name on the document does not match the first name you entered on your verification form.
no duh!

Oh my God, i was having same issue last week, but Dionysus_helios on Instagram help me recover my, you should also contact them for help as soon as possible
Yes I had similar problems with mine too but @Dionysius_helios on instagram help me out, try contacting him for help
Reducing the image size as a PNG helped for me. Below 1MB. Only issue I have to face is the prefilled name saying NA.
Why is Last Name filled in and not editable for Military Verfication? They don't think anyone will get married and change their last name? Have to call and speak to someone? So dumb!
