Different companies different rules.
This is basically a user to user forum with some tmobile moderation that don't have account access so you need to contact Tmobile support using messenger on one of tmobile's social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter. They will be able to give you the answer.

AT&T isn’t set up the way T-Mobile is. For you to get autopay discount for AT&T is basically a no credit check plan and not an actual prepaid plan. As per AT&T when signing up it says “Let's get started. Enter your first and last name as shown on your driver's license or another government-issued ID.” which is an indication they are setting you up with a no credit check.
Historically prepaid isn’t tied to a person and anyone can top off a prepaid phone. You know like those movies where they say a “burner” phone for example?
