I’ve spoken to at least 8 reps and they all lied and still charged me FULL price, with a trade in.  Total SCAM.

Don’t mail your phone to T-mobile, I tried to turn it in at a store and they wouldn’t let me.  They told me to call T-Mobile, while I was in a T-Mobile.

Just became a new victim for T-Mobile trade-in scam,

Traded in an excellent working Iphone 12 pro max for Iphone 14 pro for $1000 trade in credit, not a single scratch on my old 12 pro max and excellent working condition

once i sent my old phone, they said it the trade in phone wasn't turning ON so the promotion did not apply. After reaching to 3 different reps i asked to return my phone back and they said that not in policy to return trade-in phones

Now i got to pay in full price for the Iphone 14 pro and top of that i lost my trade-in device (that they wont return)

is there anything i can do to get my Trade in phone back ? please help

upgraded my XR to the 14 pro in the check out said my trade in would be $400 and would be applied across my monthly payments once phone was received. I went to get the shipping label and see that they changed it to $85. Totally not worth it. So now what? Do i try to see this thing on marketplace or ebay ? I really didn’t want a $45 extra bill on my phone tbh I wouldn’t have upgraded had I knew I was paying full price.

If the promotional trade in value is higher than “fair market” value then Tmobile will credit you in two parts:

  1. Fair market value -  in this case is $85 so you will see that as a one time credit in the next 1-2 billing cycles. Your shipping label copy will show this amount.
  2. Promotional value - in this case is $315 ($400 minus fair market value) that will be paid in 24 monthly credits of $13.13 applied to your $45 monthly equipment charge. This should be documented in your order, but you should call TMO support to confirm.

I’ve done numerous promotional upgrades (trade in value higher than fair market value) and this is how it has worked every time and when you add up the up front credit and monthly credits it is exactly the amount you were promised.

I just did a promotional trade that was worth $730 but the fair market value was $90. I am already receiving $26.67 credit per month ($640/24 monthly credits) and I should see the $90 one time credit next billing cycle.

Should've read this before I fell for scam. So sad! Been with TMobile forever.

100% true. I returned my phone to TMobile via USPS with the expectation they would credit my account $400, since my phone was in good condition. After receiving a text message saying they haven’t received my phone, I sent them USPS confirmation of delivery. They then said the phone was water damaged and had zero value and offered to return the phone. When I said, yes, please return the phone, they then said they couldn’t return the phone, but could offer me $80. I said that was unacceptable and they then offered $150. I asked why they hadn’t notified me that my phone was water damaged, and they said they did notify me via email. I told them I have no record of these emails (only messages that my phone hadn’t been received at all), neither in my mailbox nor junk box, and asked if they could resend those emails. They said they could not resend the emails and could not return the phone and offered a final $200. I told them my phone was not water damaged and worth more to me than they were offering and asked why they first offered to return my phone, then rescinded that offer. They had no real reason for that, other than the initial person I talked to wasn’t fluent in their policies. When asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told there were none available.

I’ve been a customer with tmobile for 19 years and never missed a payment, and this is how they treat their customers - by lying to them and ripping them off.

I took great care of my phone and am pretty certain there is zero water damage, and it’s surely worth more than $400, and tmobile knows that. But they are happy to rip people off knowing their customers have little recourse, except to move to a new carrier, which i will be doing in the near future.

If anyone is planning a class action lawsuit, please let me know. It seems Tmobile’s trade-in policy gives them a right to rip people off.
