Delay in sending picture text messages

I am having a huge delay in sending a picture via text message.  At times it takes twenty minutes at others it takes ten minutes, and that is if it sends at all.  Regular texts go through right away.  The pictures i send are ones i take, or screenshots so they aren't very big.  This very annoying, does anybody know what I can do to fix this? It's only in sending, I receive pictures from other people with no problem.

I’ve had all these same issues and it’s terrible. My mother and I are on the family plan and even when we are texting back and forth, the same issues happen. Terrible that they don’t have a fix for this. So much for this 5G crap. Seems like the service only gets worse as the years go on instead of improving. They could fix the issue and then send out an update to resolve the problem.

I'm having the same problem. Pictures go right through to iPhones but take 10 or more minutes if at all to androids. This started with the last update. But of course, tmobile won't take responsibility.

I guess this issue has not been fixed. I had 5G aND 4 bars...picture would not send.  How is this possible? I switched this year, 5 lines, and now thinking of going back to ATT.

and what zip are you in? the fact that everyone in your family has this same issue then that points to network or an issue on your accounts..are all 5 devices the same type of device or is it spread out between brands? and by chance have you jumped into your network settings and changed it away from 5G in case the 5G in your area isnt quite up to snuff? switch to 4G LTE only and see if that improves things.

@fireguy_6364 my entire household has been having the same issues...that's 5 phones. And by anywhere, i mean on earth. In my home, at work, the store, outside - doesn't matter where we are, our outgoing mms takes 15 - 20 minutes to send.

do others run into this as well or just you? and by everywhere do you mean in your home, work or all over town?

I have been with tmobile for over 8yrs and it had always been the same. Doesnt matter where i am, whether or not im using mobile data or wifi - any outgoing mms messages take entirely too long to send. With all this 5G hype, this should not still be happening.

This same thing happens to me when I am in Portland OR, but not when I am in LA.  I wonder if if that is a clue to what is going on

This still continues to be an issue. I went to the store and they couldn't figure out why it was happening and just kind of shrugged their shoulders and told me to run an update. Ready to leave T Mobile because of this. It never happened with Sprint. Text messages send right away, but photos sit and spin for up to 15 minutes to send. So frustrating!!!

This is happening with my phone I do NOT understand it. I switched from Sprint where my text message pictures went fairly quick, now these things IF they even go take upwards of 20-30 mins I just had to cancel it and send it through e-mail. I turned my wifi off I turned it on nothing helped what is this issue and how do we fix it. My phone is a Samsung 20 Note

not that it should make a drastic difference but have you switched to the newer sim card so it allows your phone to connect to both Sprints existing towers as well as TMOs towers?

you can also try a different texting app seeing as how you are using the same one from the S6 to the S9..might try ruling that out since Samsung uses their own texting app and it wouldnt be the first time its had issues.

Tmobile mms is pure garbage,  takes about 10-15 minutes to upload a picture this is why I moved on to whatsapp or share pictures thru onedrive. 2 galaxy s6 had the issue so I upgraded to 2 galaxy s9 thinking the phones was the issue but of course it is not. My next upgrade will be a different carrier.

I have a Galaxy Note 8 and get picture texts from everyone.. I just can’t send them to iPhone users...

Having the Same Problem

I am having this problem on my home WiFi. But it is also affecting the speed of my texts and my pictures. Sometimes it won’t send pictures at all and I have to resend them 3-6 times before they go through. I have an iPhone 11, and everything is up to date. What gives??? I have to shut my wifi off to send pics and texts to anyone who doesn’t have an iPhone…. (Anyone using data)? Why? Anyone have any suggestions?? 😬😬Thanks! ☺️☺️

This is ridiculous that this is still an issue. 5g super carrier and I cant send a meme. What is the deal?

Adam's point in Oakland is notoriously bad. Lyft drivers lose signal and get lost in the maze. Figure it out. Been a customer since 2001 but am getting a little fed up.

Bought SamSung S20+ from SamSung (device for T Mobile), Never have any issues with SMS for months until:

Took Update firmware from T Mobile then now it is a nightmare, 60% of the time the attachments failed to send or delay.

Definitely this is the T Mobile software issue.

Kindly fix it. We are paying for the services, kindly provide the services that we are paying for.

this started after one of the update that was done. This is clearly a software issue

Perhaps if you choose auto-resize in the MMS settings?

I’d say over the past couple days, I am having the same issue.  It takes a long time for photos to be sent.  I have a Note 9.  Sometimes it takes 10-20 minutes.

I’d say over the last month or so, continuing to today…...I find that a lot of text messages do not go through.  I get the exclamation mark saying failed to send. More times than not, it’s just a standard text.  I keep hitting resend, and eventually it goes through

@sweetpeach  Thank you so much for the time and reply.

I checked the APN and everything is set appropriately. I also checked My Profile and I currently do not have anything blocked.

Great suggestions and I am glad everything worked out for you. Perhaps this could help others.

As for now, I will keep searching on a fix to this issue that appears to be deeper than the hardware.

Thank you again 😊

I have a Tmobile Note 10+ 5G (so essentially the same phone) and the only time I have problems getting or sending messages is when there is trouble with the network or a blockage on my account. Have you checked your APN settings?

Have you checked your account? For reasons beyond my abilities, the last update triggered my account to block all SMS & MMS! I logged on, found the problem under My profile> Blocking controls, unchecked blocking all SMS & MMS, and everything started working.

We are having the exact same issue on all our phones, Motorola Rellvery x2 and Note 10. I have installed software to compress image size - not much help. I go into Airplane Mode and back out - not much help. I restart - not much help. I clean the Cache - not much help. None of these ridiculous measures are a solution. I do not want to back to stinking Verizon but am loosing patience when trying to communicate with pictures to family and friends, ESPECIALLY right now during COVID. Please give us a fix to this problem. It may seem insignificant but you may find you'll lose customers over this.

On another note regarding this, when my parents, whom I talked into getting T-Mobile send pictures or I send them images, we get messages that the "download was cancelled" and then a pixelated image. I am not sure why this is occurring. Again, very frustrating when others seem to manage fine.

Thank you for your attention and assistance with this matter.

I have the same issue every so often. The SMS/MMS will take it’s time sending when I use Textra but when I use the default app it goes right through.

I have the same exact problem with my Android. Very frustrating. But yet, if I send the same pic through Facebook messenger, it goes through quickly, and videos too, with no distortion. T mobile sucks.
