Galaxy S22 SIM card

We’re upgrading my dad from an old 3G flip phone. His SIM card is the large format so it won’t work in the new phone. The Samsung Galaxy S22 arrived today from T-Mobile and didn’t come with a SIM card. Do I need to get a new physical SIM card for it or will the built in eSIM work?

esim should work fine but im not fully sure what all must be done to get that going. you might be able to hit up a TMO store and see if they have a physical sim as well.
