My Samsung J7 hotspot function will not connect to my new paperwhite kindle. I can connect to all my other devices, and the kindle can connect to other public wifi. The problem is with my phone's connectivity to the kindle. Any ideas or help out there?

Most Amazon devices do not connect to 5GHz WiFi or AC.  Try N 2.4GHz and see if that works.

Thank you. How do I try 2.4 GHz. I am clueless.

There should be a way to configure it in your WiFi options. For me and my OnePlus 7 Pro, it's under Settings, WiFi & Internet, Hotspot & Tethering, WiFi Hotspot. In there, you can set the security type, password, Hotspot name, access point band, and so on.  You want to set the AP Band or Access Point Band to 2.4GHz, if it isn't already.

Hi!

Is this the Galaxy J7 you're using? If so, take a look at our Smartphone Mobile Hotspot: Samsung Galaxy J7 | T-MOBILE SUPPORT page to see if you can change the 2.4GHz setting as suggested above.

I found on my iPhone the setting “Maximize Compatibility” under my HotSpot in Settings. That did the trick.
