LG G2 Text Message Backup

OK. So I'm thinking of getting the LG G2 and I know there is no external memory slot, so I'm wondering how you backup text messages on the G2. If I could back it up to Google Drive that would be fine. I know the SMS Backup and Restore App can backup to Google Drive, but it saves a separate copy each time and doesn't delete older backups. Any suggestions would be nice.

I use SMS Backup + that backs up the messages to your

gmail account.

I'll give it a try. Thanks!

SMS Backup only backs up 100 messages per contact, but my phone hold 200 per contact.

I thought LG backup tool backups all messages. It's built into your phone.

Yes, but if you reset your phone it will delete the backup, which is on the internal storage, and since theres no sd card slot, so youre out of luck.

Last time I backed up my phone was with Motorola Migrate

that came with my MotoX and every sms was backed up.

Didn't know LG had a similar software built in to their phones.

move it off the storage which is what I do.  I believe there's an option to use box to store your backups.  My LG G2 broke, but I know LG gives you 50Gb of box storage for free for life(not sure when the offer expires).

Yep here it is from LG Smartworld

If you download the Box through LG Smart Device, 50GB is provided for free of charge.

※ (Just login or signup with your LG Device) *Offer valid until 9/30/14

Does it automatically store it in box?

I don't remember. I have to wait until Wednesday for my replacement.

Ok. Well please let me know when you do, because if its not automatic i will go with the galaxy s5

I know the HTC One M7 or M8 does it(you can set it up for SDcard, internal, or Google Drive).  I don't remember Samsung devices are able to do it without kies(S, S2, S3, S4, Note 2, and Note 3) let alone have one built in.

the Xperia line does have a backup tool that works similar to HTC but that one doesn't user a cloud service if you choose to use one.

Honestly I still like the G2 overall compared to even the new M8, and S5(I am getting this one from work on Tuesday.  I know it isn't going to change my mind.  The S5 still has things that I didn't like since the S2).

You can always check instore.  Go through the process of the backup.  It should ask you where do you want to put it, and what you want backed up.  If it only shows internal you'll have your answer.  Not sure if you are patient enough to wait 3 days.

I just need to be able to backup my messages on an sd card or in the cloud. I also agree in someways that the s5 needs some improving. For example the speaker placement is very bad.

You can backup to the cloud with the LG G2.  I just don't remember if it's manual or automatic.

I think all manufacturers need to follow HTC's way of doing it.  It's been the best backup tool since last year, and it got better this year

Please let me know when you get your G2 if its automatic. Honestly the only reason ill take the s5 over the m8, is the fingerprint scanner.

fingerprint scanner is a gimmick honestly... Personally I'd rather have the S4 over the S5 any day of the week.

Maybe im just thinking like a little kid, but i think its rather "cool" for lack of a better word. And aside from the price, why would you take the s4 over the s5?

S4 looks like the newer model.

Heart monitor is a gimmick and isn't accurate enough to be relevant

Fingerprint scanner has been done before...  HTC and Motorola...  No one with these devices uses it and they ARE more accurate than the one on the S5.  The iPhone 5S version is also more accurate.

The internal bump is a slight bump that most real world scenarios doesn't justify the price increase.  The S4 will be on average $150-200 cheaper than the S5 in a few months.   Everything that is the S5 doesn't to me justify spending $150+ extra to get.

What HTC device has a fingerprint scanner?

HTC One Max

Oh ok. Honestly im going between the gs5 and the lg g2. All depends on the way the g2 backs messages up.

Did some searches it isn't automatic.

I appreciate your help. By any chance do you know from expierence how the s4 or s5 speakers are, when the phone is lying on its back?

terrible honestly Would be better if it was on the bottom or on the front instead of the back.

So personally would you take the s4 or the m8, or anyother type of phone?
