View originalLG IMS keeps stopping I will take you guys word for it that they know about it and they're working on it. I've tried everything. I even did the factory reset and it still came back luckily I didn't lose anything but If they don't fix it with some kind of update from the phone or Google play I guess I'll just have to get a new phone because this is driving me nuts. I tried the above tip and it didn't work for me. the app is wacked out.
I have an LG Stylo 4 on our plan, it is having the same problem as everyone else here, I have tried the cache/data clearing, airplane mode, no wi-fi, etc…… I can get the message to stop showing up if I put the phone in Airplane mode, clear the data/cache, and then get it to force stop. Only problem the minute I take it out of airplane mode I’m back to square one. This is very frustrating; the phone is my fathers who is 78 y/o and this is his primary source of communication and his lifeline in the event of trouble. Yes, he can still call and message if needed, but the amount of frustration and confusion on what to do with the notice has him overwhelmed.
Shame on Tmo, LG or Both for not pushing a notice to customers that this a known system wide issue. If they have a plan to correct it, say something so people don't start factory resetting their devices for no reason. Or make a system level change in the hopes of solving the problem.
Followed this and it works...for now. I’ll see if it holds. Thanks for working on it!
1:40AM Texas Time and suddenly all of the “Test Texts” and Emails I sent myself from my T-Mobile LG-V60 & ATT work phone (Samsung) flooded into my V-60… Voice calls are going through both ways…
All of this AFTER :
Went back to WiFi Mode again to see if it was a T-Mobile/LG Fix…
Error came back 😡
Turned the WiFi back OFF and repeated 1-6… and phone functions again… for now
I think this has a lot to do with T Mobile getting rid of their 3G at the end of the month supposedly. They have had several delays before and had to push the rollout of the 5G back already.
I think T Mobile has some compatibility issues, or some kind of technical issue wit the network, but they wont say and keep blaming LG because T Mobile doesnt want company value to go down and scare investors. You can see their ticker TMUS and its been rather steady and nothing crazy, I think they dont want to botch the rollout again because it may adversely effect the stock.
So they blame LG. I am guessing that they will NOT come up witha fix , rather T mobile will come up with some lame discount on one of their newer phones if you trade in your “Old” LG. T Mobile may even compensate LG to go along.
If this is the case and they are pulling these kinds of stunts then I will just switch carriers and keep my unlocked phone but just transfer to another network. Get your act together T Mobile. Some of us use our phones for work and not just to play video games , watch YouTube and take selfies. We actually rely on our phones for a living and dont need these kinds of shenanigans.
If customers are experiencing the error pop -up for IMS, follow the below instructions to resolve.

2. Once Airplane Mode is enabled, open "Settings" Open Apps
3. Select App info
4. Click 3 green dots in upper right corner of screen Select show System
5. Select com.lge...ims.rcsprovider (you may also use the search icon on top of the screen search "lge..ims)
6. Open storage
7. Select "Clear Data" Clear Cache"
8. Go back to storage click Force Stop
You mayhave to do this a few times to resolve the issue
This finally worked. No pop-ups and phone is fine.

I feel like they are trying to push me into buying a new phone.

This seems to have worked on both of our phones. No popups for about 10 minutes now, versus every 10 seconds before. Tired man is the man !!!
The other thread has a fix I copied below, it worked on my Stylus 4. Be persistent, keep tapping what you need thru the popups.
ok, just used the following suggestion:

Go to settings → Apps/notifications -> app info -> three dots -> Show System -> com-lge-ims-rcsprovider -> storage
Force stop and clear data.
This has fixed the issue for my mother’s v20. At least for now…
At least it took away the 3 second pop up notice. However, I did shut down & restart and the messaged started popping up again. So I redid the above directions and the annoying pop up message has stopped,
This worked for me as well on my LG G6. For those that try this and it doesn’t work the first time, try it a couple times as if the process comes back up before the data is cleared I don’t think it’ll work.
It doesn't work.
I have an LG and tried the: Apps/notifications -> app info -> three dots -> Show System -> com-lge-ims-rcsprovider -> storage Force stop and clear data but it kept popping up. I then went to app info for it and turned off the icon badge and it stopping popping up. I'm not sure if it actually fixed it overall but I haven't seen the message for 30 minutes now.
I had the same problem yesterday and had no idea what was wrong for several hours. I cleared the cache on the phone and it worked for about 30 minutes then the pop-up would come and stop everything. Since WiFi was still working I forward my number to my Google Voice number and made calls and got my calls and texts from it. I called LG and they gave me a list of things to do that worked for several hours then stopped. I called my nephew who is an aerospace space engineer for NASA he called me back and told me me to do this. He said it's the newest LG fix. I did it yesterday and it's working just fine.
Put the affected LG phone in airplane mode by pulling down the notification shade and tapping on the plane icon.
Putting the phone in airplane mode should stop the IMS error message from popping up.
Open the phone's settings and tap on Apps and Notifications, followed by App Info.
On the App Info page, click on the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the screen and tap on Reset App Preferences, then tap on Show System.
Look on the app list for "com.lge.ims.rcsprovider" and tap on to open the next page. Doing so will pull up the pre-installed IMS provider app's detailed overview.
Once there, tap on the clear data/cache option, then clear storage, then force stop.
Then restart the phone. If the pop up happens anytime during this. Restart phone and do again.
I have LG G6 with “LG IMS” Error message popping up every 5 seconds for the last 3 days. When I moved my SIM card to an iPhone, the iPhone had no problems. And the LG G6 without the SIM could work fine with no error messages.
Today (Tuesday) at around 18:00 Pacific (California), I shut off and restarted my G6 and everything was fine. No pop-ups, and full functionality.
Perhaps T-Mobile rolled back whatever upgrade they had pushed out on Sunday.
Hope everyone is recovering their phone functionality today as well.

Hey everyone! Brand new to the community but not to T-Mobile and after reading this thread I thought giving a bit of feedback may help others still dealing with this issue.
I am on a V20 and the pop up was a constant (and timed) every 5 seconds, rendering it useless. After a call to tech support on the 23rd around 7pm CT, they told me it was only impacting about 5 specific models of LG phones, some being the G and V series, and that a fix was in the works and hopefully could be implemented during the overnight hours. The next morning the pop up continued even after restarting my phone. I started searching online for an answer/fix. No luck
After another whole day of not being able to use my phone yesterday, I am now checking online again for any word of a fix and found this thread.

These LGs are at andriod v 8.1 when everyone else seems to be at v 10 ??? Is that an LG or T-mobile lack or progress???"

IT WORKED!! OMG PROGRESS! THANK YOU!
And @cadillacmike, I'm only working with Android 8.0.0. I was advised by a friend in IT that this is never a carrier issue and always a manufacturer issue. LG essentially stops its developers from developing new versions of Android for its still working older models. I mean, they don't stop them but they don't allocate any funds for it's development either... And its more profitable for T-Mobile and other carriers alike to stay silent and not advocate for the updates from manufacturers for their paying customers.
Why can't there be some type of time frame where in order for a carrier to be willing to sell that brand the brand must continue to makes updates for x-amount of years after that device's release? I know technology changes super fast, but I don't think a few years of use is asking too much. The way it was for my phone was that it wasn't even paid off and the manufacturer stopped making new updates for my android system. 😂
And the further updated my apps become, they fall further and further out of sync with my stupid old version of android and then I have glitching issues, among other issues, and such. So I struggle just being able to use my phone at times.
If you're wondering why I'm hanging onto this ol' V20, it's because it has a removable battery and I'm able to replace it with an extended battery that gives me 2-3 days of constant use without having to recharge. And when this battery starts to not hold a charge, I will just turn around and buy another expanded battery and continue to use this phone. The phones that are available now you can't even take the battery out so sometimes when the phones glitch you have no way to shut it off you just have to wait for the battery to die for it to straighten up and stop glitching. Also, inevitably the ability your battery has to maintain its charge is going to grow weak in just a couple of years forcing you to have to buy a new phone every two to three years. I've had mine for seven solid years. It's a tank.
Update I changed to wifi calling preferred and calls work. The ims problem seems to be only causing outage of old phone and data talking to towers. Connecting to wifi also stopped message for us. Maybe the fix is a roll back on the last update. Takes T-mobile to do that.
Finally!!!

The box will disappear.
At least in my phone it did. Hope it does in yours.

Actually it wont, BEEN THERE, DONE THAT 3 TIMES.
1-it only works if you turn wifi off and airplane mode on
2-the moment you turn airplane mode off OR turn wifi back on YOURE SCREWED HELLO LG-IMS 😡
Hasn’t worked for me either!
Ok, This is the first time that I have used the chat room and cant figure out how to reply to a comment in the same section, My original comment is on the 3rd page to the bottom and user “Dadredd” helped with a solution that work for me with a small twist.
I did the clear the data 4 times then the force stop and it came back right away, this small twist on the suggested fix worked in my situation. I know that it is temporary and most likely will come back but for now it has worked for the last 30 minutes without issue.
Thank You Dadredd…...

This was not a T-Mobile Issue.
It was an LG Issue. I spoke to LG this morning.
My phone seems to be fine now. Fingers Crossed
what did LG tell you?
I heard that they want everyone to update to 5G. They probably programmed this into our phones.
Both my phones bought at the same time started having this issue at the same time. Looks like I need to buy new phones.
I wonder if the problem isn't on the LG end because I don't T-Mobile service and it's still happening to me. But I do have an LG Stylo 6 plus.

I just left Metro/T mobile(basically useless btw)was told LG was shut down, as in no help whatsoever. Told me I would have to tic 'close app' REPEATEDLY or buy new phone. It literally took me forever to learn this phone, what makes anybody think I want to go through this again??? I am old school, Tech challenged. I'm a dinosaur currently like this phone...
All the fix suggestions didn’t work for me. I’ve been wanting to upgrade one of our phones for a while now - and now my wife agrees. I’ve had a OnePlus N200 5G for a few months and I love it. They had a promo - trade in ANY OLD working phone and the OnePlus is free.
They have that same offer again, so I am trading an 8-year old Samsung Avant for the Nord 200 5G. Only cost is Sales Tax + 6.95 shipping. (I’ll sell the LG G6 online - if I get $25, I’ll be happy.)
I’d be really pissed if TMO is doing this to force people to buy a new phone. I was looking to upgrade anyway.
So anyone with low budget can get a new OnePlus 5G pretty cheap. Also I kept our grandfathered 55+ plan - no need to upgrade to Magenta (like so many of their other promos require).
