My newly purchased N200 5G will not connect to my car’s Android Auto when I plug in a cable. The ephone buzzes like it wants to connect, but nothing happens. I don’t have access to Maps or audio control. Has anyone figured out how to solve this problem?

Have you tried using Bluetooth?

Yes. Bluetooth allows me to connect to my music and make calls (sometimes) but I don’t have access to Maps or any of the other Android Auto options.

I'm having the exact same issue. Any resolution?

I’m following. I got the phone a month or so ago, and it used to work. then I started getting a message to try another cable. (Originally, i had an Anker cable. I’ve tried several very short cables, but I still can’t connect.) I tried to unpair everything and re-connect, and after doing that it doesn’t even recognize that Android Auto is connected.

Does the cable you are using support data and charging or is it just a bargain charging cable?  Have you tried the cable that came with your device?

I used Anker cable. I can't use original cable because my car has usb c connector

Purchase a cable that will work with your car that is for charging and data, not just charging to see if that works or pick up an adapter for the cable that came with your device to try that cable.

I’ve been researching this for months and while not specific to the Nord N200, I’ve seen reports that some OnePlus models have problems with Android Auto.  I’ve found that if you go into the App Management under settings and force Android Auto to stop, it will usually connect after that.  However, it still frequently has problems like the screen going black and coming back or certain media apps don’t work or stop working.

Also, after using Android Auto I usually have to reboot the phone because it becomes unusably slow.  I have an Iphone from work and it has none of these problems with the same car and cable of the same brand.  I also tried an older Samsung A20 tethered to my Nord and it worked fine as well.

Sometimes enabling USB Debugging on the device can help with the connection as well.

It's been a yr and I've yet to resolve this issue.  I've spoken to customer service at OnePlus, followed their instructions and still was unable to connect.  They finally suggested that I factory reset the phone  and try again.  Not sure I want to go to that drastic option.

I have a OnePlus N300 5G and android auto does not work.  I’ve called tech support for over 6 months with no help.  Called TMobile and they told me today that yes they sell the phone but can’t guarantee that the android auto app will work,,, TMobile sells a phone knowing the android auto app does not work.  I’ve tried 9 different cords,,, I’ve tried friends android cell phones/ Apple phones and Android/Apple Auto works on my car.  T-Mobile knows the OnePlus phones they sell will not support android auto,,, complaints are all over their T-Mobile support web page.  Do not use T-Mobile, do not buy a OnePlus Nord cell phone.  I am switching carriers,,,

BTW,,, TMobile tech support is a misnomer,,, they are not technical at all.

You should bring up your complaint with OnePlus/OPPO.  Their Dev team are the ones that need to fix it.

As I wrote 4 months ago, I spoke to customer service at OnePlus, followed their instructions and still was unable to connect. They finally suggested that I factory reset the phone and try again.  That’s NOT a solution. This issue has been reported on several sites with the same response from OnePlus. It’s very unfortunate because I do like the phone, but I also really need a working GPS, so I switched to the Samsung S10 and have no issues regardless of the cord I use.

On my OnePlus there is a setting to manage Android Auto. Settings>Bluetooth & Device Connection> Android Auto. There are options like CONNECT A CAR and Connection Help.

Just curious if anyone having the problems connecting to the Android Auto has used any of these settings to fix the problems.

I have. The phone is connected to the car with a quality cable. As the pics show, the location is on, I selected Android Auto, but the screen STILL requires access. The help is no help because the problem is phone related not app related. This is why I simply changed phones to the S20 where I’ve had no issues

It is great that the overall location setting is on, but there is another level to location. Each app has its own permission for using your location. Maybe you want Google Maps to have your location, but you don’t want your social media to see it. You have the power to decide which app can and cannot see you.

From What you show of your car’s screen, it looks like Android Auto is connected, you just have to change that location permission and you should be good to go.

Go to Settings > Location > App access to location > Maps and make sure it is selected to Allow all the time or Allow only when using the app

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I've been trying to fix this issue for nearly TWO YRS , talking to OnePlus, Tmobile,  Reddit , etc. and FINALLY someone came up with the correct answer!! You have made my entire year.

YAY!!! The screenshots you shared were really helpful, so I appreciate you for posting them! So glad that it is working for you after all this time 😎

I have a OnePlus Nord N300 5G and Android Auto does not work reliable at all.  I have tried 10 different cords with not much luck.  When I start car with cord plugged to car and cell phone Android Auto will work for 5-10 minutes and then will “go off line”,,, no Android Auto App available.  I disconnect, reconnect cord and app sometimes comes back but only for 2-3 minute's.  Android Auto is NOT RELIABLE.

My friends plug their Android cell in and Android Auto App works,,, my friend plugs his IPhone in to my car and it works no problem,,,

Visit the OnePlus forums and report the issue.  T-Mobile has nothing to do with the software/firmware on the device outside of some carrier aggregation, bloatware, and modem tuning.
