Unlock to move to another provider

I am having a difficult time having phone unlocked after even 24 hours. So my new provider is waiting and I had to get a seperate line and device from them so I can dump the tmobile things asap. 

I have not been able to contact anyone either since the number was ported and they auto cancelled my account. 

I purchased a phone from Samsung to begin with and a phone tmobile was allowed to use should never have been locked. 

I see all these horror stories regarding similar events and quite honestly- my next actions will just be getting consumer affairs involved and or legal action to reimburse any additional funds I paid plus - the almost year that I never had service before finally cancelling.
