2021 iPad Pro Cellular $200 promotion

As reference: https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-ipad/ipad-pro “Buy an iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular from Apple. Get $200 back from T-Mobile/Sprint. **”

More detail:

Tell me about the deal.

For a limited time, buy an iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular directly from Apple and get a $200 virtual prepaid MasterCard® after you activate your new iPad on an eligible T-Mobile or Sprint data plan.

How do I get it?

Buy an iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular directly from Apple (pay in full or pay monthly with Apple Card Monthly Installments). Within 90 days of placing your order, activate an eligible 10GB (or larger) data plan with T-Mobile/Sprint and complete the promotional application at promotions.t-mobile.com.

I bought the Wi-Fi + Cellular directly from Apple and met ALL the terms, but was unable to activate with a cellular plan, so I went to my local T-Mobile store. After paying $40 ($10 SIM fee, $30 “assisted support” fee), the iPad has been activated on a 10GB plan and shows up in my postpaid account.

HOWEVER, there is no way to enter the promo code at the T-Mobile Promotions page!! :confounded: T-Mobile’s “team of experts: is clueless about the promotion, as was the local store.

So, can someone from T-Mobile here help? Or, do I just regard this as another unreal T-Mobile promotion? (In which case, I will likely dispute the so-called “assisted support” charge as services not rendered.)

Hi,

It appears you should call Apple for help!

You'll receive an email with next steps after you buy your iPad.

How and when will I receive the $200?

Once you’ve completed all steps and your eligibility has been processed, you’ll receive a $200 virtual prepaid MasterCard® gift card within six to eight weeks.

Need help?

Chat with an Apple Specialist to get started.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I already chatted with Apple and was told that the next step is for T-Mobile to send an email with instructions for how to register for the promotion:

”T-mobile will be your next point of contact because this is their deal.”

So…my next step will be to call T-Mobile again.

Did you figure anything out? I getting the same run around.

No response from T-Mobile. The biggest disappointment is that T-Mobile still doesn’t educate their employees about these promotions, leading to speculation that the promos are fake when the problem is probably just management incompetence.

I had problems with a previous promotion several years ago, so shame on me for hoping T-Mobile had improved…

I plan to cancel the cellular service on the iPad.

UPDATE: this whole experience turned into a massive fiasco.

Despite listing the 10GB plan cost at “Get 10GB for $30” on https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/affordable-data-plans, I was actually charged $47.17 on my T-Mobile bill -- with AutoPay enabled!

T-Mobile Customer Service is still clueless about the promotion described at https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-ipad/ipad-pro and attempts to use the promotion at https://promotions.t-mobile.com/ still result in a “Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again.” message. No point in doing “Retry” since the promotion is unavailable.

I called and cancelled the tablet plan -- 50 minutes of my life I can never recover.

My 2¢ about this debacle: It seems that T-Mobile has been infected by the “customer no-service” culture that typified Sprint. This trend doesn’t bode well for T-Mobile as a competitive disrupter in cellular or home internet service (another slow-rolling debacle of hyped marketing).

Is the issue with the rebate or the code itself?

@magenta2738723

Is the issue with the rebate or the code itself?

The issue is the rebate — it may as well be considered false or nonexistent.

It’s impossible to register for the rebate and NO ONE at T-Mobile can explain WHY or resolve it, none of the “service experts” are trained about its existence, none can explain how a $30 fee for a 10GB iPad plan grows to a $47 charge on my bill or why it’s impossible to add the plan directly from the iPad, requiring a store visit and yet another $40 charge.

I submitted my application and received a confirmation text that it was under review… are they denying yours?

This works, it didnt even check my line activation

Same here, I had been trying to get this rebate since 5/23/21, originally told there was no promotion, submitted online and it still says pending. I’ve called 3 to 4 times about it, resubmitted documents on website and by email. Ultimately today they gave a $200 bill credit but still no real explanation of why they can’t process the request. Feels like a promotion they have no real intention of honoring.

SAME. EXACT. SITUATION.  It says that the promotion will be paid out within 6-8 weeks of being verified.  In five days it will have been 8 weeks.  I’ve called twice, both times they had NO IDEA what to do.  I am at the point where I am going to just ask them to credit my account the $200.00 and cancel the tablet line because it’s getting out of control here.  I’m like dude, why is it my Switch and Keep promotion was approved in DAYS, I had my payout, etc.  It was so seamless and easy.  This, however, is apparently super cancer.  I have not seen a single person online that did this promo get their virtual gift card :(.  Bleh.

Hey all - I wanted to give an update on this.  So, I called their rebate team directly (before I always talked to customer care - this time I called the rebate center itself for help).  Their # is 877-470-3619.  I talked to Reynold and he was outstanding.  He found the rebate submission from my Tracking ID # and the Promotion #, but for some reason it was NOT attached to my T-Mobile ID.  Even though I could see it on my end, on their end they could not see it whatsoever on my profile.  It was just floating out there in limbo (the good news, though, is they found it right away).  So, he worked with his superiors and the whole process took about 30 minutes.  At first, he wanted to call me back in a week with a follow up and said it would take 15-30 MORE days to process everything, not even counting actually receiving the virtual gift card, etc.  At this point I was like whatever, it is what it is.  About 30 mins later he called me back and said that after speaking with his team they are instead requesting I send the rebate info DIRECTLY to them with the receipt, photo of the IMEI on the iPad box, etc.  They will process within 15 days directly and were super apologetic about the whole thing.  It seems like it’s a known issue with this specific Promotion # (duh - we all know this).

Anyway, as sharing is caring, I wanted to leave all of you the exact steps I had to take so hopefully you can do the same thing and get your rebate processed ASAP.  Here is the info:

-- You need to draft an email to the following email address: rcsolutions@t-mobilesupport.com

-- Subject: 2021 Apple iPad Retail P1

-- Body, in this order:

T-Mobile Account Number: XXXXXXXXX

Callback Number: XXX-XXX-XXXX

Mobile Internet Number: XXX-XXX-XXXX (NOTE - this is the # you activated your iPad on)

Hello.  I have submitted a rebate request through your rebate website on XX/XX/XXXX, but for some reason it does not reflect on the tool that your company uses.  Upon speaking with <advisor name> at T-Mobile Rebates, they asked that I compose this email, send it to you, and I ask you to please review and process the rebate as it has already been X weeks since submission.

I am attaching a copy of the IMEI # from the iPad box itself as well as a copy of the retail invoice from my Apple Store purchase.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,

<Your Name>

At this point, you need to attach the following to your email:

  1. Photo of the IMEI # from the iPad retail box (clearly visible)
  2. Either a scanned PDF receipt or screen shots of your order, clearly showing the Apple web order # (WXXXXXXXXX).  You can take multiple screen shots if needed as long as the images, when put together, flow like one consistent receipt.

This should be all you need to do.  I was told that that team would reach back out to me confirming they have received my submission and it will be processed within 15 days.

Good luck, and I hope you all get some relief soon!

Best to you :)!

I had wondered what happened to this rebate, for an iPad purchase in May. I went back to the promotion site, entered my phone number, only to see a message that the rebate was denied because, allegedly, I had not purchased an eligible product. They never notified me of this.

I then called, got a very helpful CSR who verified that I had indeed made an eligible purchase and resubmitted my claim. Supposedly I will get the rebate in a week or so.

Did you get this rebate yet?

Did you get this rebate yet?

I did, today.

I have spent the last 2 hours trying to redeem my 200$ credit. T-Mobile was completely helpless, i have been transferred to more than 10 agents and all were not helpful. This is completely unacceptable, an offer is being advertised online and it is NOT honored. That's such a poor customer service as no one seems to care about resolving this issue.

Just had a great experience with T-Mobile customer service. No issues with my IPad purchase submissionand $200. Virtual prepaid card/rebate. And no charges at all to set up cellular on my IPad! It was a win win!

How? I’ve had issues all day.  Did you get a post paid account? And they gave you the gift card?

Did you get this fixed? Did you get a postpaid account? They knew NOTHING at the T-Mobile store so I signed up for a prepaid account that’s not eligible …….. what if I pay post paid and still nothing?? :(

I’m dealing with this issue now. I purchased a new iPad Pro from the Apple store, activated a 10 gb data line and submitted a rebate request. I was returned as “No/ineligible device purchased”. I sent an e-mail to rcsolutions@t-mobilesupport.com requesting help.

I spoke to rebate department.  They helped get the card and the card into my apple wallet.  I got to use it today and every transaction is declined.  I am livid.

Just say NO to cellular iPads.  at this point I do not care if it’s Apple, T-Mobile, or the issuer (Sunrise, Northlane, whatever).

I have received nothing, and tmobile keeps charging me. Wish I’d bought the wifi-only version and stayed away from T-Mobile.

Like everyone else on this thread, I can confirm that T-Mobile employees have no idea how this promotion works or even that it exists.

My claim was denied as well for ineligible device.

It turns out that I submitted the phone number of my primary line instead of the new data plan number. Seems like something they could’ve easily identified on their end to adjust or have a better UI to let me know ahead of time.

The OTHER issue is that I signed up for an unlimited plan. Most people would think unlimited is MORE than 10GB minimum requirement. There’s not a clear place anywhere indicating that unlimited doesn’t qualify for the plan. Now I have to wait on the call to change the plan with CS, then call the rebate place after to have it reprocessed.

this message board and the phone number provided is gold, thank you so much.

My picture of my receipt cut off the date, so they threw out my claim, no notification. Call the number (no wait time, and spoke to a human being) and they straightened everything out
