Hi there, I have an T-mobile iPhone which is completely off EIP plan, I requested an unlock on Friday, the rep said she is processing the unlock and it should take 24 hrs, but now it's almost 2 days, my iPhone is still locked, how long on earth will the unlock usually take.

Hey there!  Congrats on paying off your phone!  I'm sorry that you're still waiting on your unlock confirmation email.  If you meet the requirements outlined to Unlock your mobile wireless device‌ it's typically not a lengthy process.  Usually you'd wait anywhere from 24 - 48 hours for approval - and then with iPhones since they're unlocked remotely instead of manually with a code, there is an additional 24 hour wait from when the unlock is approved and when you can complete the reset process.  However, if there are any hang-ups with the process, it can take as long as two weeks.  You should get a confirmation email once the approval portion of the process is complete, and that email's time-stamp would start the 24-hour count down clock.  Have you received any communication from us since filing the request?

Just checking in here 😊 Did you receive the unlock instructions email yet?

I bought (at best buy shop) an unlocked iPhone 8 last week in NY. I activated the phone with a prepaid T-Mobile card that I bought just to have a data connection during my Holiday (32$).

Yesterday, when I came back home, i changed the sim card with the italian one but the iPhone was locked!!! Why??

Today I call the T-mobile customer service but they've told me I have to wait 21 days. Why so long??

Can you help me?

Well, for those who are Googling this, what I will tell you is stay away from TMobile......

I paid CASH for my iPhone X and it is being held hostage by Tmobile..... this should be illegal (and i think it is)......

I HATE Tmobile..... i put up with their poor cell service because of their great customer service.... now their customer service is garbage too.

Just try it.... walk into a Tmobile store..... their stock answer on anything is "oh, we can't do that in store - call customer service"..... and then call customer service..... they SOUND awesome.... you hang up all happy only to find out 3 days later everything they said on the phone never happens and when you call back, they have ZERO record that you ever talked to them.

After losing over $500 in incorrect charges and fighting for over 3 months with them, i finally threw in the towel and switched.... or at least I am trying to, but can't get my iPhone that I paid 100% cash up front for, to be unlocked.

Hey @magenta6079854

It makes me super sad to hear that we have lost your business 😥 If your account and device meet our unlock requirements, we have no problems unlocking your device.

All Tmobile  phones are locked.

The rep told you the wrong info since you had a prepaid account it's a year or $100  in refills for to get an unlock code.

Even post paid acoounts require 40 days.

T Mobile is awful. They will hold you hostage if they can for as long as possible.

I’ve had nothing but unpleasant experiences with these people since day one. The network is ok at best if you know what parts of town to avoid (pathetic by todays standards). Although every time I call a rep will tell me they’re “working on towers” or upgrading…. Nothing ever changes.

Customer service appears very polite when you call but it’s a joke because they will most likely never actually resolve your issue. I’ve had them remove garbage add ons that I didn’t ask for several times throughout the years and they just keep adding them back on without my permission.

You’ll see it in these threads, they’ll apologize and feign sincerity but at the end of the day none of them give a shit. I don’t need your “Im so sorry to hear that” bla bla bla.

The price for their service does NOT match the quality you should receive.

DO NOT GO WITH T MOBILE. YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Pay the money and go with literally anyone else. You can even use Total Wireless for a fraction of the price and they use Verizon towers.

I am absolutely furious with T-Mobile. My phone is still locked after 72 hours. I have talked to four different people and they all tell me the same thing. My device is 100% paid off and I owe nothing to T-Mobile. I don’t have cell phone service( not that it was any good to begin with )and I cannot switch my Sim card to Verizon‘s because my phone is locked and they still have not unlocked it. So here I am laying in my room with a locked T-Mobile phone, with Verizon service that I cannot even use. Thank you so much Tmobile for nothing. The only thing you’ve caused is anger, disgust, and extreme disappointment. I am going to go out of my way to tell everybody I know that has T-Mobile to switch to Verizon as well as people i dont know. I am SOOOOOO done with you people.

Do you meet all the requirements in the link below?

https://www.t-mobile.com/support/devices/unlock-your-mobile-wireless-device

If it’s an iPhone it may take longer than 72 hours to get the unlock code since after Tmobile submits the request Apple has to approve. Also if you requested the code on a Thursday or Friday they go by business days which the 72 hours would take it to Monday or Tuesday.
