Has anyone done an iPhone to iPhone upgrade and knows what is preserved during the migration? I’m upgrading from an iPhone 6s to iPhone 12 Max Pro. Will things like message conversations and browser tabs be preserved?
Assuming you have enabled facial recognition and you have backup to iCloud, then all personal data will be saved and restored to your new phone. Apps on the other hand will get downloaded automatically from App Store so you will have to login to the apps to start using them.
Give a try and see how it goes. You will not risk losing anything from your iPhone 6s since migration does not wipe your old phone. Only wipe your iPhone 6s when you are 100% sure the migration to iPhone 12 went as you expected. Even then there is no reason to wipe your 6s unless you are selling or giving it to someone else.
