When I don’t have Wi-fi calling enabled, calls cut out and drop constantly and I can only get one or two bars of cellular service. I live in a city. What’s the problem? Then my battery gets eaten up fast because it’s always trying to find a better network. You guys boast about your coverage, but I’m about to throw in the towel on this 20 year relationship we have because your coverage still sucks. I keep expecting that it will get better; it has to. It doesn’t. Wi-fi calling bought you some time, but Xfinity caps our Wi-Fi and I don’t want to use it for calling anymore, so I have to deal with calls like I’m living in the 1990s again. Seriously, what’s the deal?
if its been like this for years..why are you still here? and are there any other TMO phones around you? and are they running into the same thing or no? also which phone do you have?
"If its been like this for years..why are you still here?"
-Not a productive question. Antagonistic for someone who says they're here to help. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be. Anyway, for years I've had unlimited Wi-Fi, and WiFi calling picked up the slack. Now my WiFi is metered, so I don't use that anymore.
"and are there any other TMO phones around you? and are they running into the same thing or no?"
-There are other T-Mobile phones, many others in my area, and I haven't asked anyone specifically about their signal at my locations, but generally speaking, I hear a lot of complaining about the world's best network…
I have a Moto G Power.
On the coverage map, solid dark pink everywhere including my address. And when I filter out 5g cuz my phone doesn't have that technology, solid pink, but one or two bars.
reason im asking about other phones is it could end up being your phone or the sim card in it..if others are running into the same issues then its pointing more at network and not so much the phone…
reason i asked why stay is once you step outside you no longer have signal until god only knows when..might be getting to that time to switch up to someone that covers that area better.
depending on how old that phone is here before to long they will be shutting down 3G..so unless your phone has VoLTE (Voice over LTE) capabilities you wont be able to make/receive calls and almost positive you wont be able to send/receive regular texts.
I really don’t care about the bars as long as it works.. This test is with 1 bar of 5G.
My phone is a year old, the technology in it is probably two years old. It's fine with LTE, just missed the 5G train. The coverage in Saint Paul is supposed to be excellent, but it has never been. I'm not going to buy a new phone just to find out that T-mobile's questionable network connectivity isn't any better with 5G, but I think I will finally move on after 23 years. There's no excuse I have heard or I can imagine that explains it. It's been probably 15 phones I've had and as long as I use wifi calling, it's fine, but I should be able to rely on the cellular network in a metropolitan area like the Twin Cities if I need to.
To be fair, when I originally posted, I thought I was writing Customer Support, not a support forum, but I do appreciate the responses.
no worries. to be honest 5G is ok but not life altering..at least not in my areas..if that device is only a couple years old then it should still be fine..it should have VoLTE capabilities so you should be covered there..
i would still talk to neighbors etc to see what carriers they use and what their experiences have been to see if there is a brighter light at the end of one of those tunnels.
