CDMA gone after May 31 and phone consequences

I’ve been a Sprint customer for over 20 years, and now after their union with T-Mobile, I’m being told that my old Galaxy 6 and it’s CDMA technology will be dead after May 31 (this date has been moved multiple times). However, my wife’s Galaxy 8 which also supports the same technologies (CDMA,GSM, and LTE) and was not flagged as obsolete . I only use a cell phone to make or receive calls (mostly from home) , so the LTE connection is all I need. I realize that the Sprint RF band 26 that my phone uses  will probably be replaced by one of the T-Mobile bands, and, I’m wondering if my phone will even be compatible with a T-Mobile sim card ? (my wife’s Galaxy 8 is working fine with a T-mobile card). T-Mobile’s first tier contacts never answer these questions , but show considerable interest in locking me into a long term contract by offering  a credit carrot for a less than popular 5G phone. (I have no use for 5G). If T-Mobile would just tell me definitively (in their broken English) that my

WhatsApp calls

My plan includes unlimited data (and messaging) out of the country. I called T-Mobile to ask a couple of questions about using the phone while out of the country, and the Tech Support agent told me not to make WhatsApp (or Facetime) calls because they count as calls and are charged at the rate of $0.25/min. I argues that WhatsApp calls consume data, not voice minutes, but he still said I will be charged if I make WhatsApp calls if not connected to wifi. Is he right?

Overseas Work: How to avoid T-Mobile cancelling data roaming?

I am a merchant seaman (Civilian Mariner) currently working overseas on a naval ship. I left in January of 2022 and I am currently still overseas. On April 24th i recieved a messsage to my phone stating that the majority of the last two months of T-Mobile usage has been roaming internationally. Should it continue, my roaming usage will be blocked on May 27. My phone is how i contact home, check emails, etc while overseas. I called customer support and was told to change the SIM card. However, I am frequently in different countries or regions, and that also depends on whether I even have liberty to leave the ship/base. I was then told the only other way to be exempt from blocking was if i was active duty military. I am employed by Military Sealift Command. Which means I work for the navy/department of defense but i am still a civilian and therefore not considered active duty military. I do have orders, however I am not sure they would accept them without me being a part of the “uniforme

2-week road trip in Alaska; will T-mobile work?

I'm taking my family on a 2-week RV roadtrip to Alaska later this month (we are from GA, and plan to stop at Anchorage, Homer, Seward, Kenai Fjords, Chitina, Valdez, Paxson, Denali NP, Talkeetna etc.). I've googled about T-mobile in Alaska but got either dated or confusing info. I called T-Mobile and was assured that my T-moble ONE will work just as it does in Atlanta--> i dont need to turn anything on, and all the unlimited talk and data will automatically work on the GCI network when i arrive in AK. Can someone with recent experience tell me what I'm up for:1. Do i need to turn roaming on on my phone?2. will T-mobile work in Alaska (understand that coverage can be spotty. but to the extent that GCI has coverage will T-mobile work?). is there cap or throttle or surcharge on my data/speed/talk (i've heard anywhere from 200mb to 5gb data caps)?3. should i purchase additional add-on from T-mobile for this trip? the custy rep told me that for $15 a month i can upgrade to the ONE Plan P

I’m in Saipan, Northern Marianas.  It’s apprarently not part of the US for T Mobile billing.  How much does it cost me to call from me in N Marianas to someone else in the N Marianas?

0.5mbps on 6 lines for almost two years

For almost two years, my plan consists of 6 lines where our data speed is around 0.5mbps. Tech support has been not helpful and it seems like they can’t even fix the problem. We have 4.5 gb of data on our plan for each line which we don’t come close to using it because our speed is so slow, so it is not a throttling issue. I’ve gone to a T-Mobile store where they didn’t believe me at first til they started testing the speeds on the speedtest app. This is what we did, tried new sims on all lines like 3 times. We than swapped our sims into the store display phones and with the speedtest, it showed 0.5mbps. We than put the sims from the display phones into our phones and it tested at 150mbps. This indicates that it is not an issue with the phones (like c’mon, tech support keeps thinking we need to replace our phones). The store employee proceeds to contact tech support and they have no idea what to do, keep giving us the run around. We are still stuck with this extremely slow data, can’t

We got TMO because they had the best coverage at our home and were told the local Sprint tower which is less than a 1/8 mile away would be converted to 5G so we got the home internet as well. Recently our normal 5 bar coverage has dropped to 1 or 2 bars. The internet has been 2 bars but were expecting awesome when they converted the tower, but now I’m wondering IF they will or just decommission it. I contacted Customer Care and while they were nice folks the answer I got is coverage is what to be expected. How can this be? It’s like that site has been turned off! TMO you could sell a lot wireless and your internet if you converted this site, our only option is 1.5 MB DSL or satellite and all our neighbors are sick of it. We have Boeing, Federal, and investment employees that would sign up in a heartbeat.

upload and download speeds all over the place on 5GUC and T-Mobile Internet over 5G UC

Now a month into T-Mobile Magenta Max and 5G Home Internet. Happy to bye-bye my cable provider. What I don’t understand is the minute-to-minute changes in both upload and download speeds. I normally have 3 out of 5 bars  on both my iPhone 13 and my Internet Gateway.  I am attaching a list of speeds from my computer with a wired connection to the gateway.On my phone, I use OpenSignal app to track speeds on cellular data. I may get over 500 Mbps down and 30 up and then some time later it will be 30 down and 6 up. Bad weather/rain does degrade my service.What is weird is that the upload and download speeds don’t consistently parallel each other.All my measurements are made when nothing else into the house such as streaming TV is not running.

OOMA OUT DIAL ISSUE

My OOMA phone has worked well for years using Centurylink DSL. I recently changed to T-Mobile wireless home internet and now my OOMA phone will not dial out, however, it will receive calls-no problem there. I have the OOMA conneted via hard wired ethernet connection.

Greetings, after switching from Verizon to TMobile and porting over from a Pixel to Samsun A53 phone, we are unable to receive texts.  Has anyone else encountered this and if so, how was this resolved?Thank you

Will my Sonim XP3 work after July 1, 2022?

Apparently people with a Sonim XP3 were told their phones wouldn’t work after January 1, 2022. Well, mine still works.Now I am getting regular texts from T-mobile saying my phone won’t work after July 1, 2022. Should I believe it?The texts say T-mobile is getting rid of 3G and that I should “upgrade” my device. The XP3 is a 4G LTE phone, so why should this affect me? I would consider any other device a downgrade anyway, since I hate both touchscreen phones and the KaiOS they install on most flip phones. Is this just a marketing ploy?

Text message alerts

All of my setting for notifications are turned on.  I do not receive an alert when I receive any text message.  I receive news alerts and other alerts but not when I receive a text message.  Any ideas?

cannot connect to data in Europe.

I am in the Netherlands and my phone will not connect to data. I have the magenta plus plan. My wife is on the same plan and she gets data here. Our phones are on the same settings. I get bars for phone but no data symbols.

T-Mobile and Windows 10

I have just hooked up with T-Mobile and things are working great except for one thing. I have two computers. One with Windows 11 the other with Windows 10. I was easily able to find the T-Mobile network on my Windows 11 computer but can’t find the network on the Windows 10 computer. Any ideas on why?

Signal Booster for Sprint Clients

I used to use Sprint’s Magic Box Gen 3 as a signal booster as I live in a rural area and the reception is very poor. Since T-Mobile took over Sprint, they discontinued the Magic Box in March which left me with no signal booster at all (unless I want to spend hundreds of dollars to buy one). Whenever I asked T-Mobile, they said because I am still a Sprint client, I am not eligible to get a signal booster (the non wi-fi one since I don’t have a wi-fi router). I’ll be able to get one once T-Mobile switch my account from Sprint to T-Mobile, but they do not know when. Does anyone has any comments/suggestions? I hardly get one bar and the data reception is always poor. Every time I tried to stream any shows, it buffered every 10 minutes or so, very annoying!Thank you.

T-Mobile/Sprint Technical Help

Basically, they are useless. Every time I called and asked for help, all they did was reading from the scripts which were given to them. When I gave them a ticket number, they always ask what is it about and don’t even bother to look at the ticket first. I have serious Network issues and have been going on for months without solutions. Mind you, I understand corporations  want to outsource their help desks to other countries to save money, but at least they should train those people well enough to help their clients. And most of all, they should hire those who could speak good English that you could understand. So often, I could hardly understand what did they say and have to ask them to repeat several times. The professionalism in corporations have really gone down hill over the years!

Disconnects with new 5G home internet gateway

Got the black rectangular 5G box last week. Tried all sorts of locations, but the best reception seems to be in front of a north-facing second-story window, where I get 2 to 3 bars and as high as ~70 mbs d/l.But it’s very variable, with it occasionally dropping as low as ~16 mbs. And, it drops out overnight and doesn’t reconnect automatically (“no signal” when I check it, but after power cycle, it connects fine).FWIW, we’re in the suburbs of a sizable (~2.5M) metro area, about 10 miles from a city center and maybe 2 mi east of a pair of ~1000 ft TV towers that also host cell antennas. The TM coverage map shows us in “extended coverage”, but the highest speed coverage is shown to extend as far as a block to our west (although west-facing second-story window placements get only 2 bars and slower speedtest.net results). Very confusing.We got better, more reliable TM service than this with the silver Nokia cylinder on the first floor ~9 mo ago, but because of an ipv4/ipv6 incompatibility w
