I had my my printer connected to my network with no issues for months. Out router accidentally got reset and since then my printer won’t connect stating the mac address isn’t correct. I’m using a HP printer and windows laptop. I’ve tried everything I can find in these forums and nothing is working.

Please help!

I have seen that reported a few times that the printer will not connect due to the mac address. It is not an accurate report actually. You don’t report the printer model so it is hard to know for sure. The printer will probably only connect to 2.4 GHz if it is older and you need to know the authentication type if it is WEP/WPA/WPA2 as if the gateway does not have say WPA on the 2.4 GHz frequency it will not connect. You might have to add an additional SSID with the 2.4 GHz frequency and have WPA/WPA2 authentication and have that only for the 2.4GHz and NOT with the 5GHz. You could just have the SSID name be HPrinter or name it after your cat. ;-) With the gateway and the wireless implementation of 802.11ax it does not always play nice with the older printers. It is probably more likely the driver for the older printer radio in part. When the printers get older and HP or other vendors stop support for them then it is a bit of a battle to get the connection made. If the printer has the USB port on it you could just connect it via USB to the laptop and print direct to it via USB or you could get a newer printer. The printing technology has moved along a bit so some of the newer printer offerings are quite nice and do a much better job than some of the old ones. I bought an Epson AIO that was not very expensive and it actually produces much better prints than the prior Epson AIO that we had that was more “capable”.
