Personally , I have never owned an Apple device and never will so my answer would be Android.
Apple does that a lot of pluses but I don’t like the way they control all aspects of their phones. If you want to unlock an iPhone bought from Tmobile you need to send a request to Tmobile and then they will send the request to Apple. Tmobile has the Android unlock codes for the phones they sell on their servers and you can get the unlock code usually within a day.

I have not heard of significant reception differences in current devices. It pretty much comes down to personal preferences. I’m using a OnePlus device.
