COVID-19: How's everyone doing?

I'm being driven BATTY!

My employer started making us work from home Monday.  It feels like we've been working from home for a month already.

The grocery stores are slowly getting back to normal (there were actually products in the meat section this evening -- but, no toilet paper still... I still don't understand that one).  I told my roommate he's a bad Mormon because he didn't bring any of his can-stash when he moved back to Atlanta a few months ago 😀 (I mean no offense by this -- their potato pearls are AWESOME).  Luckily, we grabbed toilet paper a bit before everything went awry.

The good thing is I still have plenty of quilts to work on.... and trying to get my kitchen remodel going.

A friend posted on Facebooks that Athens-Clarke County (Georgia) is imposing a curfew 9p-5a.  One of his friends responded saying he needs to be at work by 5a, so he wasn't sure how the curfew wold stick.  *shrug*

I was amazed when I was in my bathroom the other day and found some hand sanitizer.  I bought it months ago, but, it's there.  I'm not over-using it because there's no risks unless I interact with the outdoors.  Which means I held every effort to not touch my face when I went to Publix until I got home and sanitized.

This morning at Publix, the meat dept looked normal (though, I'll give that like a couple hours).  Vegetables were mostly out of stock, so my cheeseburger soup I'm making today is going to be missing onions (I'm improvising with dried minced onion).  I guess folks are trying to eat healthy instead of that nasty (in my opinion) Chef Boy-ar-dee business.  Someone behind me had Kleenex and Chlorox wipes, but, I saw no paper towels or toilet paper (pro tip: out of toilet paper?  There's usually a shower in the same room you just went... though, I realize it's a lot more effort for the female folks who use toilet paper every visit)

But, here, in the afternoons, I'm still seeing folks walking the neighborhood like normal (as long as it's not raining...  when will this rain stop?).  People are still out and about.  I haven't really gotten much Pokemon Go time lately, though...

It looks like they had a meeting on it, but they decided not to go with a mandatory curfew yet. Their website says that it's voluntary right now. But it's important to keep an eye on your local news / government websites for the latest updates.

Here in Hampton, VA, it seems fairly normal for the most part.  The stores have plenty of everything, people are still out and about and shopping normally.  Restaurants are mostly pushing take-out or delivery nut you can still done-in, but they give you your food in take away containers.

NASA is on telework, schools are closed, and most things where large groups or. Functions are closed as well.  The beaches are about normal for this time of year and traffic is pretty much normal as well.  The closest cases to here though, are Williamsburg (30 miles north) and Virginia Beach (50 miles south across the bay).

Around here EVERYTHING is closed - restaurants, bars, backyard parties (limited to 10 or less) & ALL government buildings and schools! DFW area colleges & universities have gone online (thank goodness for T-Mobile COVID-19 response) cancelling commencements (although, qualified students will still graduate).

We were in the middle of re-roofing our home & replacing windows so this has been a madhouse! The store shelves are empty, but luckily we accidentally hoarded toilet paper back in November when we let our Costco card lapse (household dropping to mostly just 2). WE BOUGHT TONS, but there was no shortage back then so now we don't buy any! 😀 Clairvoyant, I guess! 😜😀 Even our college kids don't buy it...just steal from Mom & Dad. We are hunkering down because we & our kids are in at risk groups....so groceries will be delivered from now on. Praying for all who have been impacted by this plague! 😢

We're upgrading folks from their existing limited plan to unlimited. But if you don't have an existing data plan, there's nothing to upgrade. Here's the excerpt from our Frequently Asked Questions:

ALL T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers on our current plans with limited data will automatically have unlimited smartphone data for the next 60 days (excluding roaming). No action required.

Wow, that's so rough @magenta10610727 . We understand this is hitting hard for a lot of folks. We do have the option of Payment arrangements for folks needing some help with their bill.

Hampton, VA has been fairly normal through this whole pandemic.  Outside of restaurants had moved to take-out and delivery only with movie theaters and malls once closed.  That was all of the temporary change we had seen here.  Restaurants have been open for dine-in again for close to a month, the beaches never really closed, now and malls re-opened not too long after.  Some of NASA here return to working on base this week.  

DITTO here in DFW! The only place in Texas with hospital bed shortages is Houston (that’s a story I won’t get into here), but things are looking far more frightening today than 2 weeks ago! 

They’ve still kept some of our restaurants open for dine-in. My guess is because they can distance seating when folks come in so that’s nice. 

Hampton, VA is still pretty normal.  I am up in Toronto, Canada for a few weeks though right now.  Things up here are... oddly strange.  The restrictions here are a lot more strict than Hampton.  You can't dine-in anywhere, people are wearing masks just about everywhere, no cinemas, no malls, and so on.  There are so many empty businesses where there was something the last time I was up here.  

All of the fun things seem to be closed up here.  People here... seem like mindless drones walking around in their masks.  Beaches are even closed, so that leaves people with little to do.  Then they wonder why people get fed up and just go anyway, although you can be fined up here for breaking the quarantine order.
