international hot spot

Hello, so I currently have an older ONE Plus plan, with international data and 10 GB hotspot.  I’m currently overseas on a family vacation and we’ve been using the hotspot for the last couple of days.  I was interested in upgrading our 10GB hotspot plan to the 20GB hotspot plan when I noticed the global pass.  But the global pass only seems to have 5GB of “tethering” (which I read as hotspot), at a subtantially higher price.the only real advantage I see to the global pass is the ability to make voice calls without an additional fee.   given my goal is to increase the amount of data my family can access, what is the reason for getting the global pass instead of the much cheaper hotspot boost?
