Alcatel hotspot stops recognizing USB cables, can't charge, how to fix?

My Alcatel hotspot has suddenly stopped recognizing any of the USB cables that I plug in to try to charge the device, except for one cable.  I used to be able to use any of the half-dozen USB cables that fit, but now none of them carry signal or power, and my charge will run out soon.

How can I fix this?  I tried the full hardware reset, I tried removing the battery, the last thing I haven't tried is removing the SIM card but I doubt that would make any difference.

Suggestions welcome and appreciated!

Depending on the age of the device it is quite possible that the port is just worn out. unfortunately that might mean replacing the device or if there's any sort of warranty or insurance on that device having it replaced.
