SyncUP Drive needs workaround to work with 2019 Subaru Crosstrek

So on the Sync UP compatibility website, it says that the Sync UP hasn't been tested with a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek.  I've had my Crosstrek now for about 3 months, and moved over my Sync UP from my 2016 Crosstrek.  It connected fine, and I was able to set up a new vehicle. All the app and wifi functions fine, even with the newest SyncUP app.

HOWEVER, there is a conflict with the Subaru Starlink System, which connects to the their servers at start-up. If the SyncUP and Starlink boot up in the wrong order, Starlink can't connect and throws an error and the Starlink functions won't work. (I've even gotten texts from Starlink Central that they see my car went off line, and asking me if everything is ok.)

WORKAROUND:  Unplug the SyncUP module until the Starlink light goes green and stays green for 10-15 seconds.  Then re-plug in the SyncUP and everything proceeds normally.  You will get a notification that the SyncUP has been unplugged, and then that a trip is starting.

My SyncUP was manufactured in July, 2018, so if there is newer hardware, I haven't been able to try it.  Anyone else have a different experience? Does it work with a newer SyncUP module?

Congrats on your new car! Unfortunately, we don't have any workarounds simply because if your vehicle isn't compatible we highly recommend you don't use SyncUP with it. Perhaps we have other users that have a Subaru Crosstrek that can chime in to help out a bit more. 😊

Thanks, Amanda. I actually don't need a workaround, I have a workaround as I described, and it works fine. (It's just a little annoying.)

I was checking to see if anyone using a newer SyncUp was having a different experience.

Thanks again!

Gotcha! Hopefully some of our other users will stop by with their experience. Let us know if you have any other questions!

My subaru Impreza has a built-in wifi hotspot, but i need to purchase a subscription. Can i add my car to my T-Mobile account? or am i forced to only use At&t? and if so, wouldn't that violate some sort of anti trust law or something? I personally dislike at&t and very happy with my T-mobile service.

T-Mobile help me!!!

I just bought a new 2020 Subaru Ascent and a new 2020 Subaru Forester (yes the same day).

They want me to lock back into that damn blue oval again (AT&T) 🤮 and not use my beloved T-Mobile for my hot spot built into MY new car (the nerve) I need your help in freeing my cars from this hell forever. Please tell me this is possible without adding a flux capacitor.
