Anything is possible if the person is skilled enough.  How likely it is, depends on how vigilant you are at protecting your personal information, making sure your PC is up to date with the latest security patches and updates, making sure your virus detector and firewall are up to date, and not clicking on things that could potentially comprise all of that.
