I’m trying to text the following link and while my phone indicates the message was sent, the receiver never gets it.  If I use AT&T the message sends fine.

How do I turn off the censorship feature?

I don’t think there’s a censorship feature. What model phone are you sending from and to. Generally, when there’s a “didn’t receive SMS” complaint, iMessage is usually involved.

I sent from a T-Mobile Z Flip 3 to an AT&T Moto G Stylus.  It even happens if I shorten the text to “www.canadiancovidcarealliance.org”

I just sent that link to my wife’s phone (both on T-Mobile). It arrived instantly and I opened the website just to check it was correct. So, any “censorship” appears to be specific to your account.

OTOH, just in time, this shows up on Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/rs4r15/tmobile_censoring_links_sent_via_sms/

The message is also blocked if I send it via email-to-sms xxxxxxxxxx@tmomail.net

How do I turn it off?

Check the settings in your MyTmobile account or the settings on the phone.

Any specific setting I should be looking for?  This is happening to other people too.

I would check your SMS app settings first and see if there is a filter that needs reset. Then check for the same thing in your phone settings.

Also are you a prepaid or post paid customer? If prepaid it may be a webguard issue. I’ve read other posts about this interfering with sending links.

Early on in the pandemic  google maps changed my home destination to a Covid information business in my area. I had to dig around in the google settings to get that fixed by turning off the Covid alerts so you may want to check those also if you have an Android.

Post paid.  Webguard is set to “No Filtering”.

I can find no relevant setting that fixes the issue.  T-Mobile is censoring text messages.

and yet drnewcomb was able to send it from his TMO phone to his wifes TMO phone with zero issue

Good, maybe he knows which setting I need to toggle?

The same censorship is also happening with bitchute.com and odysee.com links.

Have you tried a different SMS app?

I just sent the link in the  Google stock sms app and Textra app with no issue so it’s not censorship from Tmobile.

Which SMSC/Message Center number does your SIM use?  Mine is set to +12063130004.  Am curious if yours is the same.

The same but I have a comma a 3 more numbers at the end and also it’s greyed out so it can’t be changed..

The additional 3 numbers at the end specify what format the number is in.  It’s either 145 or 129.  Most likely 145.

Maybe it’s customer specific. I have three new lines with this problem.  Same issue if I send SMS directly by issuing appropriate modem commands.  It’s not app dependent, a setting, or something internal to the phone.

I am observing T-Mobile censor my texts and would like them to stop.

I am also observing this issue.

Edit: Support has opened an engineering case

Now the reddit thread has been removed.

I’m also unable to send a hyperlink to https://odysee.com/ to several other T-Mobile users.

Update: Now able to send https://odysee.com/ link to another T-mobile user, but https://www.canadiancovidcarealliance.org/media-resources/the-pfizer-inoculations-for-covid-19-more-harm-than-good-2/ is still not going through.

Wow! Texting is such an important form of communication nowadays so it can be extremely frustrating when messages are not going through. T-Mobile does not censor content and we want you to feel free to share information with others. There have been times when links from different websites are flagged as spam incorrectly. We absolutely want to address that and remove those reputable sites from any spam lists. The best way to make that happen is to reach out to us by calling in, messaging through the app or website, or sending us a message of Facebook or Twitter. With the information you provide, our customer support teams can file reports to our engineering teams to get everything straightened out.

T-Mobile absolutely censored my text message.

I pressed send, and the message was not delivered because T-Mobile refused to deliver it.  And to make matters worse, they made it appear like the message was sent.

Maybe in another six months time T-Mobile can document the criteria it uses for determining which news aggregators it’s users are able to exchange links from.
