my phone screen I currently have gave out (about time) and decided to upgrade but when I did I knew I had a balance due that I owed so I paid it off and now when I try to upgrade my device it doesn't let me it still says I have a payment due.

Most EIP's fr the last couple of years do not allow you to pay off the device in full before the term of the EIP is complete. Paying extra just adds extra money towards your next bill usually.
