Here is what you need to know to connect your Sonos devices to your T-Mobile wireless internet. This example covers adding a Sonos One and a Sonos Move to the WiFi network. It assumes you have already used the Sonos App to attempt connecting Sonos devices to the T-Mobile wireless internet WiFi network with a T-Mobile FAST 5688W 5G gateway with default settings, which has failed. These instructions should also work for other Sonos products. However, these two Sonos devices, with and without an ethernet port, are used to understand the difference.

T-Mobile FAST 5688W 5G gateway default settings:
*Dual frequency bands 5GHz and 2.4GHz set to Automatic
*WPA version set to WPA2/WPA3
*WPA encryption mode set to AES
*Network set to NOT Hidden

In this scenario, the Sonos One must be connected to the WiFi Network first since the Sonos Move does not have an Ethernet port.

You will need a Sonos product with an ethernet port. Suppose you only have Sonos products without an ethernet port. You must purchase or temporarily borrow a Sonos product with an ethernet port to use these instructions.

An ethernet cable to connect your T-Mobile gateway to your Sonos product with an ethernet port is also needed. You can temporarily move your gateway and Sonos device closer together to use a short ethernet cable if you do not have one that will reach or purchase one long enough. The ethernet cable is used temporarily to connect your first Sonos device to your gateway WiFi network.

Step 1 - With the device (iPhone, Android, etc.) connected to the WiFi network, open the Sonos App (s2).
Step 2 - With the gateway and Sonos One on, connect the ethernet cable between the gateway and Sonos One. The Sonos One should join the WiFi network. You can remove the ethernet cable anytime after the first Sonos device connects to the WiFi network.
Step 3 - With the Sonos Move on, go to the Sonos App and connect the Sonos Move. When you get to the step where you select your WiFi network, proceed, and it should now connect to your WiFI network.

Like with the Sonos Move, you can continue adding your Sonos products through the Sonos App whether the device has an ethernet port or not, or you can use an ethernet cable between the gateway and those Sonos devices with an ethernet port one at a time.

This is awesome.  I was soooo disappointed when I switched to TMob and haven’t used my Sonos in months.  Trying this as soon as I get home.   Still working ok?? Thank you again for posting this, kg!

Yes, it still works perfectly for me. I hope it works for you too.

I got it working with TMobile internet! I followed your steps, and while it didn’t work exactly the same, I was able to eventually connect everything thru aSonos WiFi network, then it connected to the T-Mobile.  Not exactly sure how to explain it all but it works!  Thank you again, kg!

Awesome, I am glad you got it to work!

Have a T-Mobile 5G Gateway G4AR-1 and cannot for the life of me get my Sonos devices setup so they continue with out immediately disconnecting from the network. I tried what you did above, but some “exact” steps would be greatly appreciated. This is really frustrating.

If you tried kkgross’s steps in the original post from 8 mos ago, I can’t really add much. I had to try several times and ended up using the Sonos WiFi offered choice, connecting that to my T-Mobile WiFi.  That is all I really recall. Hope you get it going.  I know how frustrating it is.  🤦🏻‍♂️

Thanks. Can you provide a link and/or the steps to how to setup the “Sonos WiFi offered choice?” Also, I have a Sonos One (Gen 2), standard Arc, Play:3 and a Move 1.

When I was trying to set it up, Sonos WiFi came up on my WiFi menu or on a screen prompt( do you want to try Sonos WiFi), can’t really recall. I selected it and it worked.

I had same issue that I was not able to connect my (2) SONOS Ones.  I connected ethernet cable to first one and then the app saw it.  It then needed to do a SONOS firmware update and also a WIFI update.  I did the same with the second one for the SONOS update.  Both now work as Wifi connected.  Thank you kkgross!     fyi  hold time for SONOS was like 3 hours…..  forget that  LoL

Bless you for sharing this...T-Mobile tried their best, but couldn’t figure it out.  Sonos’ only suggestion was to buy an additional router, but even then they weren’t sure how to proceed.  You are a lifesaver!!  I’m sure the whole neighborhood heard my excitement, and of course my music on the patio speakers!

Again, thank you!!!

This is awesome.  I’m glad I could add some value!!!  Rock on
