I went to set up ACH payments for T-Mobile to connect to my chase account, but as part of the setup Chase let me know that T-Mobile was requesting access to see all of my account balances and transactions… that is NOT needed for them to just auto debit from account and is really a deep invasion of my privacy.

That's why I stayed with paying with a credit card. Whether Chase is telling the truth remains to be seen if Tmobile actually does have that ability.
For what it’s worth, I doubt very much that T-Mobile (or any other business) would request, as a condition to set up ACH withdrawals, access to to see a Chase Bank (or any other bank) customer’s balances and transactions.
