Do you have both 2.4 and 5ghz broadcasting? I think some older laptops can’t see both I do… interesting theory. Any thoughts as to a workaround? Pretty sure I don’t want to disable either one... If they’re both broadcasting then it should pick up the right one. I have a Tovala oven connected that only works with 2.4 and it’s working. That’s super odd. I have two asus laptops myself that connect fine but the oldest is only about 3 years old so it might be newer than yours.

Update: I am having a mostly stable experience with T-mobile WiFi by disabling all the SSID parts of the radios on all frequencies and using my own router as a network hub and wireless access point connected by wire to T-mobile gateway. There is still the brief lag at times when requesting an online page or doing some task, and it also still experiences data hanging but it does not always crash apps as a result of data taking too long to come in or having brief pauses. Last night I was playing COD Cold War Zombies on PC and I was hosting the party, no problems at all. I only played for about 2 hours thou. I guess I have to keep in mind I am saving money compared to cable and overall the internet mostly works fine. I have downloaded about 400gb the first week without any throttling, so that’s good too. Most of my apps work fine. Those that don’t are niche cases. Like for whatever reason Amazon prime video works okay unless I start a second prime video stream on the same network. Some s
