Question

Motorola Edge 2022 Android 13 When?

Anyone know this? I can't find a T-Mobile Android Update page for this phone to check the status.

oddly enough im not even seeing it listed anywhere on the Android 13 page.

A bunch of angry users over at the Lenovo forums for the Motorola edge+ 2022.  Not getting any real answers from Motorola on the issue. My phone is stuck on the February security update even though moto claims the phone is to receive “at least” bi-monthly security updates for three years. I can’t get any feedback about the issue, comments are dismissed and not ever answered.

My thread in the Edge 2022 section of the Lenovo Forums was Completely removed. I only asked the same question as here and it was Completely removed. I read, when I bought the phone that, Lenovo promised 3-5 years of support and Android OS upgrades. This phone has not received one OS upgrade and has barely received any security updates.

My Moto 5 g5 2022 got an Android 13 update in April 2023.  It solved a couple of bugs I had with Android 12.  I was surprised it showed up so soon.  Maybe an update for you is on the near horizon.

A Moto G5 update before an edge+ update is rather peculiar.  Glad yours has been updated.  I’m more concerned about not getting the bi-monthly security updates. Should have had two updates since February.

When checking the Motorola "Will my phone get the next Android Update"

https://en-us.support.motorola.com/app/software-upgrade

I get the following response. Not one mention of even one OS upgrade, just security updates.

What is going on? This phone isn't that old and to not even release one OS upgrade... Makes you wonder about the company...

They finally released 13, although it's only got the April security update. It's standard practice for Motorola.  This will be the only version update this phone will get and we'll see about the security updates. At least bi-monthly security updates are supposed to be released for this phone and that is now out the window.

Though others have mentioned the Edge 2022+, this thread is in regards to the Regular Edge 2022. T-Mobile does not have an Edge 2022+. The Regular Edge 2022 has not received Android 13.

Is anyone actually getting bi-monthly security updates with the Motorola Edge 2022???

Currently stuck on the following:

Android version 12

Current software version: S2ST32.71-118-4-2-6

SPL 2023-06-01

I just got the Edge 2022 a week before Christmas and have received two security updates, the last on Dec 20, but I am still on Android 12, and my last phone was Android 14. This is killing me. It is so terrible.

keep hammering Motorola. the updates kick from them..unless they ran into some huge issues with 13 they might have bypassed it and at some point yall will get 14? not unheard of to happen. especially after the 13 fiasco so many had across the board...or was 12 the disaster update? not seeing anyone mentioning their 12 going nuts so guessing 13.

I spoke to Motorola earlier today and they said it was all between Google and T-Mobile. I did some poking around on line and the TMobile Edge 2022 is XT2205-1, the ATT model is -2, and the Verizon model is -3. Spectrum and US Cellular both use the -1, exact same model as TMobile, and both already have Android 13, so this is obviously TMobile withholding it for some stupid reason or another. If I was assured that it would work, I would just root the stupid thing and flash it with the Spectrum Android 13 rom. They aren’t known for bloating down their OS like the big boys.

What have we all learned from this thread and the threads over on the Lenovo forums?  Don’t buy Motorola devices!  :P

well that and if a OEM points fingers at either the carrier or G then theyre probably lying lol..Google created said update..but its up to M to make that update compatible with their devices..not G..and its not the carriers fault if M keeps kicking out a update and its junk and doesnt clear carrier check offs lol. M has ALWAYS been at the back of the pack when it came to updates…

dont get me started on the Photon...i think it was called the Photon..not a single OS update..in 2 years...not one..and then M went ahead and did the EOL (End Of Life) on it. all the comments about it over at Sprint could have been turned into a book with a pretty solid start to a part 2 lol..

It has been more than a decade since carriers provide anything more to updates outside of bloatware, carrier aggregation settings, and the odd bit of feedback and radio tuning settings for major updates.  Carriers with the exception of AT&T allow updates to go out across all of their networks.  AT&T is the exception because of specific deals with manufacturers to encourage customers to rain with AT&T or lose update access for your device.

T-Monike is your cellular service provider.  Lenovo is the manufacturer.  The manufacturer is responsible for the device and the firmware that makes the device operate.

Companies usually deal with their bigger business partners first.  Verizon probably buys a lot more devices from Lenovo than T-Mobile does.  If your updates and security patches are really important to you.  Trade in your device for a Pixel.

not to mention if V is just now starting to roll out 13 then its safe to say other carriers 13 will start kicking out here in the near future.

FINALLY.....woke up this morning with the option to download Android 13!!!!!
