Need to recover deleted text message conversation on t-mobile android using verizon messages app

Hi all,

I accidentally deleted a message conversation on my Samsung Android today, and I can’t get it recovered using the conventional methods suggested on-line.  I’m trying to avoid resetting phone to factory defaults and restoring from my current active Google backup.  When I replaced the phone and phone number earlier this year, the current messaging app from Verizon remained the default and I didn’t think about the possible consequences regarding that.  Restoring from the Verizon app doesn’t work.  I changed app to Samsung but that still doesn’t work.  Any suggestions before I reload?
