Same here, I am not putting up with this double NATed bs.They should have advertised this as a home hotspot not home internet. Price is good performance for internet browsing is good too but the hardware features and engineering backend setup is short sighted on the very best of days. Now day with wfh, secured setups many of us have is poop at best. Bye bye TMobile. Not like Cox gets prizes but at least I get a public ip.
Such poop engineering I swear…T-Mobile could have had a great win here. But they F up. I knew it was too good to be true.
I am a network engineer and I am not dealing with this double NAT baby back BS.I’ll be back once they get their act together, maybe. It’s BS needs to advertise as a hotspot not home internet we don’t get proper access to hardware nor a public IP, it’s definitely not “home internet”. I hope they realize there is a great number of people working from home and online gaming from home too, if I have to pay for extra services (VPN/NGROK) to get basic functionality working I may as well stay with cox and pay for simplicity, a public IP and somewhat decent access to the hardware. speeds can be at time better than Cox but I don’t just do internet browsing and they are not stable by any means.I would use this only if you don't work from home, do not game online and or if you have no other option, lol.Was going to do some xbox gaming this holiday, guess whos double NAT’ed at the ISP level… What F’ing a joke this was, it was a good 2 days I guess.I guess cox is till going to get my $.I have VPN a
I just spoke to a few different reps last night about this. They all said the same thing "they are working on (fixing) the XLAT464/CGNAT, it's a top priority". But they have no eta. They do not offer options for non CGNAT ip, north static IP on home packages only business package which requires you to have a business license and also comes with other terms as far as data cap/use. * Essentially, "go back to a normal ISP".I love the service other than the XLAT464/CGNAT issue but it's a big enough issue for me to look for alternatives asap or at least go back to my old stupid provider as soon as this my current month is up I am gone.I'll be back once they get their act together. They definitely need to be more forth coming about in their marketing material/sign up process. Not once it was mentioned, working from home and at times onsite and having to connect back to my home network it's a bit of an issue. Not to mention now the kids on holidays vacay constantly complaining about they can't p
You may as well ditch them lol.I am calling them again today to check on the static public IP option.I see some are a bit confused about what's going on in the backend with this TMHI tech. So let me offer some light in the matter.Traditional ISPs give you a public/external IP (attached to your ISP provided device usually a gateway router modem/Wireless Access Point). You don't need an external IP to have a network, but you need it for internet access. This Public IP then passes through the interconnectivity to your local network IP, providing internet access to all your local network devices. The local network is the one at your home/office, Created by your own wifi router/sometimes ISP provided device. Even if you have a single device provided by your ISP you will have a public and a local/private IP.The public IP is used to communicate with the world outside of your physical network, like Google, Netflix, social media, or anything internet connected. Most of the time this is a dynamic I
