Same problem as everyone else. Just got a new T-Mobile gateway for home internet. Internet speed is great and has 4 bars in its current location. Wi-Fi calling will sporadically work but not reliably and it will drop calls. It worked perfectly fine with my Comcast router using the same phones. Both iPhone 11 and iPhone 13 Pro experiencing the exact same issue. I have turned off Wi-Fi calling because it is more reliable even with 1-2 bars in my house, but I wish this would be fixed. After a year of this issue being overlooked, my guess is we’ll live with it or move onto another service provider.
Thanks so much! That all makes sense. I’ll move it around the house and see if I get any better numbers.
If you do receive 4 bars according to the LED display that should be a pretty good signal but it helps to know the cellular metrics and understand the details of the 5G source delivery. With the T-Mobile home internet mobile application on your cell phone you can obtain the cellular metrics (RSRP, RSRQ, SINR) which provide more detail about both the 4G LTE and the 5G NR signals the gateway receives. In order to KNOW the true nature of the cellular reception this is important. The chart below can be used to understand what the metrics are reporting. If the signal quality is not good and there is higher noise then this will have a direct impact on things like VoIP calling which is not tolerant of packet damage or delays. The bars on the gateway might be high but is it due to the 5G or the 4G LTE signal? That is important to know. The signal quality RSRQ and signal noise SINR need to be good or performance can suffer. The other part of the equation is the phone. If the phone has an earl
Also having the same issue. My home has poor T-Mobile coverage inside but on tone corner I can set up my T-Mobile gateway and get about 4 bars, but all of the phones connected to it have issues connecting to regular T-Mobile service now. Another problem I am now experiencing is Wi-Fi calling doesn’t work well when connected to the gateway. It works fine when connected to xfinity? Anyone have any ideas?
