Let me start by saying I do like having wireless internet. The problem is I don’t think it is ready for primetime. Speed is great, price is great, but It loses its connection to the internet about once every two days. It’s sad. I have spoken with T-Mobile many times. They have updated my firmware and done other things (I have no idea what they change there), and they tell me that these changes will fix all the problems. Sure! I am getting close to asking them to replace my Gateway to see if that helps. Has anyone had a replacement and found that helped?
This work fine until recently. All I get is 404 Not Found.
We started our Home Internet service with the Nokia round trash can (rightfully named). I had two of those. Both responded the same way. The Nokia gateway was fast but would lose its connection about once a day on average. Then, being ever so hopeful, we switched to the Arc Gateway. It was much better not losing its connection, but it was slow, and all of our streaming TVs buffered all of the time. I had that one replaced with another Arc, same problems. Two weeks ago I went to the local T-Mobile store and switch out my Arc square trashcan for the NEW Sagemcom gateway. Praying this was FINALLY the solution. Sadly, it is not. I had high hopes. It is fast like the Nokia, but it also loses its connection often. On the plus side, it eventually reconnects by itself most of the time. The other thing about the 5G Home Internet that drives me crazy is it seems that T-Mobile is constantly messing around with the signal from the tower nearest me. I'm not EVER going back to cable, but really for
Do you have this gateway? Can you tell if it is any different than the Arcadyan KVD21 Gateway?
Supposedly the Arc Gateway can be extended with a mesh network. Has anyone done this? What is the hardware needed to extend?
During the setup I saw a screen that indicated where the tower signal was emanating from. How do I see that screen again?
So far so good. T-Mobile replaced my Nokia trashcan (rightfully nicknamed) without question. I needed to restart my trashcan 57 times in 149 days for an average of once every 2-3/4 days. Although possible, it would be hard to believe that the Arc Gateway could be worse.Arc Gateway Pros:Easy setup once I swapped out the sim it came with for my sim from my Nokia trashcan. Sadly, support did not know that this is why I had no internet. I had to suggest the swap. The GUI is much simpler than the trash can. There are only two SSID settings. First is automatic sending out a combination of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signals. The second setting allows you to separate those signals, and those are the only options. This is significantly less than the trash can, but as far as I am concerned, it's no more than 99% of the users need. The Arc device is a bit smaller than the trashcan. Signal strength is better, internet speed is a bit slower.Arc Gateway Cons:Heat generation is about the same. Not bad, but gi
