Help! All of my contacts are suddenly gone! How do I get them back?

If it is an Android device and is linked to your Google account. They should be backed up in there. What device are you using? Is it a new device that you have just switched to? If it is a new device, contacts can take a little while to repopulate.
Thanks! Yes, it's an Android device... very old device. I've had it for years... a Samsung Notes 3. I'll try to get them back from my Google account. Thanks for that tip. But why would they suddenly disappear like they did?

Corrupt app data or an update clearing certain app data and cache. I can only guess at why, but that might be a sign that the storage location for that app data might be failing or the app somehow got corrupted.
Thank you for your help. The Google restoration worked. I had not synced it recently so a few contacts were not in there; but, I was able to read the old texts and figure out who those numbers belonged to and add them back to contacts.
