I just wanted to post this so others are aware.

I called and reported this to Care a few months ago in September when a similar incident happened, but it happened again today.  When it happened before they said no attempt was made on my account, so its a Phish. When it said “ iPhone 15” I had a feeling it was fake.

I got a phone call from (888) 531-6664
It immediately says in a female voice robotic: “ Thank you for contacting T-Mobile Fraud department. A purchase attempt has been made for a new iPhone 15.  If this was not you, press 1.

Upon pressing 1, it will ask you to enter the 6 digit code to verify.

This is when i believe a targeted attack takes place where they try to reset your account or gain access by doing a man in the middle attempt to bypass your account credentials.

The text took forever to come in, but i fed it a fake number and it said “ this is not a valid validation number”

Then it calls back,  OVER AND OVER, relentlessly.   It called me 8 times.

Beware, these things are smart.  In the mean time I updated my password and added authenticator to my T-mobile account.   I haven’t seen anything posted or on the web for this, as its rather sophisticated, but they are asking for the code that “T-Mobile will never ask you for this code” so some people may still get scammed.
