Just want to know the easiest way to wipe data prior to trade in

Go to your settings then system and there should be an option to reset the phone.

iPhones and recent Androids have a “Factory Reset” or “Erase All Data” function in the settings. Some older phones have no function to clear user data. I’ve recovered old text messages and photos off some old flip phones years later. If the phone does not have a function to erase all user data, the only way to do it is with a hammer.

You probably can go to a computer store and they can do it with a program they have but you will get charged.
