MY phone is 5G capable and there is 5G where I live but my phone says it is on 4G plan??? HUH?? you have to have a special plan for 5G?

All plans include 5g as long as you have a 5g phone.
and a sim card that allows 5G...so as an example..if your previous phone was NOT 5G capable and you put the sim card into your new 5G capable phone it wont be able to pull in 5G because the sim card wont tell it to look for it.

Just like with 4G LTE, there are different bands that 5G can be deployed on. Jist because your device is capable of 5G, doesn't mean it has the band(s) T-Mobile has deployed in your area. What device are you using and did you purchase it from T-Mobile?
