5G SA

I have great service, no complaints but I’d like an answer to two questions:

  1. T-Mobile has announced 5G SA nationwide. Will this include Home Internet?
  2. I have the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. I know that supports stand-alone and I already have 5G UC. When and if my area gets stand-alone, will there be an indicator on the phone that will show this? The coverage maps show that my area has UC and I’m told that Las Vegas has stand-alone but there is no information that the UC has stand-alone running.

I can’t say (yet) for home internet, but there’s no reason to currently benefit from 5G SA .

I have a S21, and 5G SA in my best cases (100MHz + 40MHz n41) will hit around 1400Mbps

5G NSA (100MHz + 40MHz n41 + 20MHz LTE B66 + 15MHz LTE B2) will hit around 1800Mbps.

latency is similar ~12-17ms.

The big push to n71 / n41 SA is to migrate traffic to 5G SA and allow for refarming of B2/B66/B12 to SA for improvements and simplicity (why have 4g+5g traffic when you only need 5g).  This doesn’t mean the end of LTE right away.
