When I receive a message (SMS) from an iPhone, I need a separate step to see the message.

Initially, I only see a ‘download’ symbol:

I have to tap on this symbol, close the Android Messages app, then open it again. Only then do I see the content of the message. This happens whether the message is text, graphics, or a combination of the two.

How can I avoid this two-step process?

I believe I have solved this problem. At least, the solution I found is working, so far.

I only experience this problem when I am in a group chat with iPhone users. Because Apple, being Apple, doesn’t allow non-iPhone users access to iMessage, I can only receive group chats as MMS. The solution to my problem is to open Android Messages settings, and allow automatic downloads of MMS
