I bought an iPhone a while ago and was surprised after the software that the device did not accept the SIM card for my country. I spoke with Apple and they informed me that T Mobile was the one who put the lock on the device. I bought it from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and I am now in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and I cannot reach T Mobile service representatives. I tried to call them on their international number, but it seemed to me that the line was closed. I hope to solve my problem as soon as possible. Thank you.
It sounds like the device was jail broken or used an exploit to allow your SIM to work and the software update fixed that. Because you are not a T-Mobile USA customer and your account and device do not meet the SIM Unlock Policy Requirements. Your device will not be SIM unlocked from T-Mobile.

You might also want to check the IMEI of the device to make sure you were sold a device that was lost or stolen.
