Can anyone recommend an affordable brand and model that works with the gateway?? My Canon cant connect (and I tried setting up an additional SSDI for the printer and that failed too)

Have you tried splitting the channels into 2.4GH and 5GHz and lowering the Security to WPA/WPA2 on the 2.4GHz to see if that allows your printer to connect? When ever you connect your printer to a new network, you need to run the setup for your printer again on your computer.

You may want to set up a separate 2.4Ghz SSID for your printer and then connect your printer to the separate new SSID.
