I noticed that text message yesterday and decided to call T-Mobile today because it seemed suspicious. I looked at the FAQ section on their site and found the following strange… https://www.t-mobilesettlement.com/home/faqs2/ 22. Where can I get more information?, at the very end of stating who you can contact, it states, “Please do not contact the Court, its Clerk, or T-Mobile.” Hmmm… Well, I called them (T-Mobile) and the representative told me I did the right thing because they don’t know anything about it, and they would have sent me a letter in the mail, and not a text message. maybe they dnt know but it’s real! Like I said in previous posts, I know the data breach happened last year due to being informed by T-Mobile. What I’m wary of is the form of communication that the settlement group chose. Sending a text message seems…eh…
Got something similar on a government owned Verizon number today. These are definitely scams! I’m glad I looked further. I received that same text yesterday. Decided to call T-Mobile today and the representative said she didn’t know anything about it and that I can disregard the message. Others in another thread said it’s legitimate, however, I’ll heed the representative’s guidance on this one. representatives do not know anything more than the script that is provided to them. search for news articles. CNET has one with links to the claim forms. I agree I wouldn’t trust the text messages being sent, but link matches what is in the CNET article. https://www.cnet.com/personal-finance/how-to-claim-your-share-of-t-mobiles-350-million-data-breach-settlement/ I am aware that the breach happened because T-Mobile informed me of that last year. What I’m referring to is the form of communication that the settlement group chose. So, I am glad that I deleted tha

There's a P. T. Barnum quote that sums this up perfectly Which P.T. Barnum quote? Is it “There’s a sucker born every minute.” It seems that one is attributed to him, yet I don’t want to make any assumptions. That part of the FAQ really stood out to me though. Heh heh.
This is partially legit. Please DO NOT give any info to the number that texted you (that part is a scam), but the actual law suit is real. The site linked below is legit. I've used them for 2 other class action law suits. You're not able to file a claim just yet, but when you are, you'll go through T-Mobile. Please copy and paste link below, as for some reason it is not clickable: https://www.classaction.org/blog/t-mobile-data-breach-settlement-what-you-need-to-know Thank you for expressing this part. “You're not able to file a claim just yet, but when you are, you'll go through T-Mobile.” Glad that I deleted that text.
Here are more legitimate links to show the validity of the text. In the CNet article, it sites Knoll group as the contact. The first link is from Tmobile themselves. I’m not in denial that the breach happened, I was informed of that last year via T-Mobile. I was hesitant about the form of communication that the settlement group chose. It wasn’t assuring at all to me.
It is a fraud, do not click any link from that message, I got the following message from 770-273-0561, so I decided to call T-Mobile first to find out what is going on. Rep told me that this is not how they handle settlement, usually it will be a short message or a letter from the mail. DO NOT CLICK THAT LINK, JUST DELETE THAT MESSAGE, BE SAFE, AND SHARE THIS TO T-Mobile's 😊 ***** ***** ***** ** ** ***** ***** ***** ** ** From Kroll Settlement Administration LLC. Coming from someone who works in Digital Fraud at a bank please be aware of what information you are giving. There has been a lot of scams where Zelle is being used. Typically if you get a settlement it is in check form. Not a Zelle payment. Do not give your Social Security Number as usually this type of info regarding a settlement(from my experience) is in an email form not a text message. These scammers are getting very smart and have been scamming people for thousands of dollars. Remember Zelle is still hooked up to your bank account. They can also mirror phone numbers. Just some info for you all. “this type of info regarding a settlement(from my experience) is in an email form not a text message.” - Thank you for sharing this. I thought it was strange to receive a text message regarding this matter. However, there are others who are adamant that this is real. It’s kind of frustrating as I don’t know who to believe. I’ll go with what the T-Mobile rep said and disregard it.

A simple Google search reveals plenty. Please don't spread misinformation.. https://www.classaction.org/blog/t-mobile-data-breach-settlement-what-you-need-to-know I did a Google search, however, I decided to contact T-Mobile because I didn’t trust that it was legitimate information. I like to ask questions if I am uncertain. The T-Mobile representative told me she didn’t know anything about it.
