Hello all,

I’ve been on my parents’ account for many years. My mom wants to release my number so I can get my own account/line. She says she called and had my number released and I have 30 days to get an account. I just called the customer service line (it’s after midnight in my part of the States) and they are telling me I still need my mother’s PIN or last 4 of her social. Why would that be the case if my number has been “released”? What’s going on?

Essential  you are porting your number out to another account.  That is why the PIN is required.  She can go with you to a T-Mobile Store so you both can get this done on the spot.  To open your own account, a credit check will be required unless you port out the prepaid.  Porting to prepaid will require a new SIM card.
