After this Android Pie update I am not able to change the background of my text messages. Help! Am I missing a step or function?

Hi!
I'm sorry but in the One UI experience, the colour scheme is standard.
You can try Google Messenger or another safe SMS app for customization. Samsung messages for now, is stock colour only.
My friend has Verizon she has the update...and she can still customize her
background... Is this a carrier update issue?

You can change it with themes or dark mode. No specific custom background anymore.
Textra is a good option, along with pulse and mood. However none will have RCS.
I don't have the option to change anything in my text background. The whole point of having a phone that is mine is to do with it as I please. Now every customer is stuck with some bullshit all-white background to stare at all dam day & night. This company is worthless & it's worse that you can't even switch without running into the same ignorant disregard for the consumer who keeps the companies in business. I will NEVER EVER recommend this company to anyone. This company stays finding ways to disappoint their customers!!!!!!!!!
