Have you checked the contrast of the screen? Also have you tried rebooting the phone.
No way to check contrast. Tried rebooting several times
Swipe down from the top of the screen.
When the device boots. Is the T-Mobile or Samsung logo nice and bright?
did you put a protective case on the phone and screen protector? if yes first remove the case and see if things change..not the first time a screen protector was slightly over the proximity detector or the case for the phone was and creating issues like this.
