Samsung advised users of the Fold and flip 3 to ask T-Mobile why they have yet to release the android  12 update.  Verizon and At&t released already and T-Mobile has not. Samsung said they have done their part and now its 100% on T-Mobile.  So what's the hold up?

Soon these Sim flip workarounds will be useless as they are all heading to esim. My flip 4 is using esim now, apple doesn’t even have a Sim card slot anymore, so everyone is at the mercy of the carrier.

I did upgrade this morning.  But I was very disappointed since still the eSIM is not available with Android 12 on my Galaxy Z Flip3  5G for T-Mobile.  Now I am on One UI version 4.0 with Android 12, but no eSIM capability.

I contacted Samsung tech support and they point finger at T-Mobile.  Amazingly T-Mobile has eSIM turned on for European version but not US version.  I am so fed up with dealing with this issue between Google, Samsung and T-Mobile.  It’s not cool!

I have it now too! I’m on the SM-F711U1

Downloading now

Looks like unlocked phones got the update today.  Locked phones are still in testing and have no eta for release as of yet.

The update for locked phones has been released!!!

Mine was available this morning, I do have the SM-F926U1 model bought at Best buy

I spoke with someone from Samsung technical support, they claim the Android 12 upgrade is going out for Unlocked devices on January 18th … we’ll see.

So I also have an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Flip 3 5g and I tried everything also, no update. Then I came accross mattbehnken's post, " thanks matt". He said he got a google fi sim card and swapped it with his tmobile one and he was able to download Android 12. He turned off his phone took out tmobile sim, put Google fi sim in, turned phone back on and updated carrier settings after that we were able to go to software update, and was able to download Android 12. No issues. We didn't sign up for anything. Hope this help yall. Im using Android 12 now.

I have an unlocked ZF3 directly from Samsung with a T-Mobile SIM and no update as of today. Yesterday I did a Factory Data Reset and then tried multiple times throughout the day to get the update without putting in my SIM and it would not update.  I also have a Pixel 6 that is stuck on the November security patch because Google can't get their act together so I'm anxious to see which phone updates first. I can't blame this one on T-Mobile.

I suppose that’s both good and bad news, thanks for sharing the information! It is unfortunately a sad state of affairs for the general Android update landscape though. :(

According to SamMobile, the update was built and ready to deploy on December 27th but for some reason still isn’t out to customers.

XDA Forums has a whole thread on how to download and flash it manually if you like … I might end up doing this if we don’t have the update by the weekend. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/f711u-and-f711u1-firmware-links-and-flashing-discussion-here.4322163/

Mine is unlocked directly from Samsung as well this trick might not work if was bought directly from tmobile as you just can't switch carriers until it's unlocked.

The issue isn't the phone being unlocked. Even with my phone being unlocked it's still going through the T-Mobile Update Page.

So unless it was purchased unlocked directly from Samsung, it won't work.

My wife and I both bought our unlocked directly from Samsung but we still don’t have the update. Supposedly once you put the T-Mobile SIM Card in and it registers with their network then you’re on the hook for their update gating unless you wipe the device. This is what I’ve found claimed by others around the internet, but I can’t find any official statement from T-Mobile or Samsung to validate it.

As of January 9th 2022 still no android 12 update nor a response or explanation from t mobile. This is not putting the customer first. This is unacceptable

the site here is primarily peer to peer..if you are going to get any answer in here it’ll be from another customer..

solutions provided here are for unlocked devices and people who have sim cards to swap out. so any customer who brought phones financed from t-mobile are screwed ? We are still paying for the phone . this is exactly the reason android devices get a bad rap unlike apple devices .. and all the android enthusiasts are at the mercy of carriers.

Mine was, I bought it unlocked straight from Samsung.

I ended up buying a Google fi SIM card. I turned off my phone took out the T-Mobile SIM card and put in the Google fi SIM card. Then turn my phone back on and it asked me to restart to apply sim updates. After it restarted I went to settings check for update and it immediately began downloading. I did not sign up for Google fi or even download the Google fi app.

Was your phone unlocked? Because I just tried what you did and it did not work.

Same here, luckily I had an old Verizon SIM that was still active. I installed on my z fold 3 and after a couple reboots I checked for the update and there it was. It's just sad that we have to resort to such tricks to get an update, definitely Tmobile is dropping the ball big time here.

I just used an old AT&T sim. It rebooted and the android 12 update popped up. BAM!!

Thank you mattbehnken from the previous comment I did the same thing accept I used an old Verizon Sim update Sim settings automatically reboot phone since Sim wasn't activated connected to wifi check for update and found the latest Android 12 update hell yeah thanks man.
