why wont tmobile let me pay monthly when trying to upgrade my phone?

I’m trying to get a new phone by upgrading and it only gives me the option to pay in full which isn’t what I wanted. I wanted to get the iPhone 13 in pink which it says back order could this be why?

Is your account a prepaid or a postpaid account?  You might need to visit a T-Mobile store to have a credit check done before EIP’s are permitted for your account.  If your current device is still currently being paid off through an EIP.  You might not be eligible for another EIP until that device is fully paid off.  You can reach out to Customer Care at 611 or by sending a DM to T-Mobile on Facebook or Twitter to inquire as to why you currently don’t have the option to purchase a device on an EIP.

if its badly back ordered i could see them only allowing full price purchase if available.
