The simple answer to your question is yes. It will make setup much easier, especially if you want to set T-Mobile up with the same WiFi name (SSID) you already have. In addition, there is limited ability to configure the T-Mobile gateway, so if your current router/gateway is also your DHCP server, you'll need to disable it or turn it off.
