Actually after I last posted to this thread, I called customer service later at night and was able to find a TMo supervisor based overseas who was able to find the right plan codes and add them manually!! (In other words, they were able to allow me to add an additional line for the same fee as our current lines on our Grandfathered plan.) He said that for the agents, the service codes are found under plan options and features, and that the old legacy tool they use (Samsung) can’t do it. I’m not sure exactly what that all means, but perhaps if you tell a customer rep that will help move you in the right direction!
Well, T-Mo said my current device promos that are already on my account aren’t the issue. Then they tried to add 2 lines with the iphone 14 device to it without completing the transaction. Wasn’t an issue, so it’s not the fact that the add-on data isn’t automatically on the line.
I have a really old plan that is only voice. To get data, we added 3GB of high speed data per line for $5, which got upgraded to unlimited data last year as part of a T-Mobile special upgrade for all existing plans that had caps. My problem is that I want to add a new line of voice service and data, but now T-Mo wants to charge me $20 for 3GB of data. T-Mo reps said that we can’t get the $5 deal on new lines any more. But I’m wondering is there any way to ask them to give us the same $5 data deal that we currently have on all our original lines? If so, who would I talk to? Thank you!
Had not thought about that! That’s a good question. Right now 2 of the 3 voice lines have a device promo tied to them. It’s the last 6 months of a 24 month credit for 2 free phones. I’ll ask T Mo next time I talk with them. Is the max number of promos different for every plan? The BYOD went through though (before I reversed it)…so I know my plan supports at least 3.
That’s what I thought too at first. But written in the description for my plan in my account is that I have 5 voice lines available. So it should be fine...unless they are counting my internet as one of my lines. My plan is the Familytime Basic. I haven’t added any other lines in 1.5 years prior to yesterday.
Nope I’ve added a line before. It depends upon your plan though how many lines. I’ve done it through Costco about 2 years ago without problem.
Actually the BYOD promo worked. And T Mo said the BOGO is eligible too. But yes I will check to make sure that my plan wasn’t changed.
